Hilly carb on edelbrock performer BBC

Got it Thanks! PO set up with “regular” open square gasket. Blocking some of the opening. The truck idled crappy. Think this may have contributed to that?

Hilly carb on edelbrock performer BBC

Hi team I have a 454 with a performer intake I’m changing the carb from a 600 holly to a 750 vac secondary The new (and old in place) gasket covers a decent amount of the intake opening. See photos Is this normal? Do the performers take a special gasket? Should I cut the gasket back so...

AN fittings need to be drilled?

I have stuff from them. I like them. Actually looking at an oil cooler too. The reason I got the ones I did was I wanted RED ones and evil only had black. Everyone knows it will not flow right if the colors don’t match.

AN fittings need to be drilled?

I’ll do that. my only real problem is going to be figuring out how to sleep at night knowing the inside of the fitting will be all scratched up

AN fittings need to be drilled?

It’s smaller than the braided line ID. It is also smaller than the 3/8 regular brass NPT nipple I compared it to. Probally 1/4” Don’t know if I “need” to ie will it flow enough as is. It’s a 454 but not a crazy race engine with 950 dominator

AN fittings need to be drilled?

Thank you I don’t disagree and am not looking to meet firemen The fittings I’m talking about are the NPT to male end adapters. It’s not the part that seals against the hose. Those I have from summit. These are basically solid bits of aluminum. That look like the ID of the NPT side are much...

AN fittings need to be drilled?

Hi everyone Replacing carb on my 454 83 k5 I bought some braided line and am re-plumbing my fuel supply along with a new carb. I have holly electric pump going to a nice big fuel filter mounted on the inner fender going to a pressure regulator then to a Russel duel feed. I got shiny braided...

    Weird solenoid looking thing

This is an 83 when they really started to get crazy with hoses and lines. I was thinking about something really simple like you describe…vent line to a carbon tank and that’s it..or just some kind of filter on the vent to keep stuff out. Frankly I like the smell of gasoline

    Weird solenoid looking thing

Ricko if you help me figure out were the esc is and exactly what wires connectors go with it I’d be happy to send it to you. I should be working on the truck this weekend

    Exhaust Question

+1 on the magnaflow. I put a pair on my K5 and at idle they are pretty quiet. Low rumble but not loud. I have a 454 with headers and it sounds wicked when i get on it. If you are running stock exhaust with cat I’m not sure how much louder it would be if though

    Cooling suggestions k5 454

That’s interesting. I have my original. It’s leaking and some of the fins are bent but wonder if I can go that way

    Cooling suggestions k5 454

Got it My block is early 90s I think, and has oil lines coming off the block. Right now they goto a $20 tranny cooler. I think I found a spectra radiator that has oil and tranny cooler in it. That would do me pretty well I think. I don’t know much else about the motor other than it’s got...

    Cooling suggestions k5 454

Awesome thank you. You are just the guy I’m looking for advice from. Same truck as me :) There is no body lift just 4” suspension…original squishy rubber mounts are on my list to update. I think the engine was sitting funky because the oil pan was literally sitting on the xmemeber. Just put in...

    Cooling suggestions k5 454

Hi everyone thank you all for the help so far. 83 k5 with 454 PO did some things good and others no so good. I got this truck from AL and I’m in FL. Buddy of mine drove it down. Lost the radiator on the way and replaced with whatever they had in stock at 8:45 at night in middle of nowhere...

    Weird solenoid looking thing

I like the smell of gasoline:) I’m assuming the fuel vent line is cut somewhere. I need to figure out what PO did with the gas tank too. The fuel gauge does not work and there is a holly pump on the frame that taps into the original fuel line and sends a rubber hose up to the engine. Havent...

    Weird solenoid looking thing

Since it is not the original engine ( early 90s 454 I think) I’m assuming it’s not the original distributor. It does not even have a vacuum hose hooked up. I like the idea of the esc but don’t think it’s in the cards

    Weird solenoid looking thing

I found it. Thank you guys. Can find it in my next post “free crap to anyone looking for old emissions epquiment” along with this spooky looking octopus I found. It is literally hooked up to nothing

    Random spare wires and things

Studying the schematic you shared…thank you If I’m understanding correctly if I’m not using an esc distributor I don’t need any of that stuff? The distributor in there is manual advance. Since I got the truck this way and it’s running without any of these wires attached can I assume I can...

Hello everyone Anyone know what this is? It’s on the firewall and I don’t like it :)

    Random spare wires and things

Thank you Think I need that stuff:) Best I can tell there are no wires connected to the engine/tranny and the only vacuum lines goto the breaks and hvac

    Random spare wires and things

Trying to figure out what these artifacts are. Bought a 83 k5 someone swapped a 454 into The only thing electronic on the truck is the radio and it’s broken. There are a few random wires that I’m not useing and would just assume delete There is also a weird solenoid on the firewall I cannot...
