Fuel Pump won't draw fuel from tank

Looking at pics online it appears that the pump lobe is separate than the calve train lobes. It is a round lobe that is eccentric to the centerline. Did I read right that you have a fuel filter between the tank and pump? Thats not typical. What happens if you put a little pressure in the tank...

Fuel Pump won't draw fuel from tank

Well what the frick! I don't think it uses a push rod because the cam is very close to the side of the block. Could you post up a pic of the pump installed and plumbed?

What he said! When I was 14 I was a little intimidated and there was no such thing as a message board like this to fall back on but I got it done. Do some research and dive in!

Fuel Pump won't draw fuel from tank

I can agree with 1987 GMC Jimmy that there could be an issue with the pump and or pus rod/cam lobe but I am stuck on the fact that it ran with an auxiliary can connected directly to the pump inlet. If you have the cap off the tank there shouldn't be any vacuum building there. What if you attach...

Fuel Pump won't draw fuel from tank

What gets me is you placed a hose in a gas can to feed the pump and it ran fine if I read the original post right so it may still be an issue with the sender. I used to use an outboard motor tank as a temporary tant on my project trucks. Maybe you could rule out the the pump and carb by running...

    Trying to fix brakes

If you have good shoes on the back try adjusting them up a bit. You want to go up to the point they just rub the drums slightly.

Also plan on dropping the oil pan when doing the swap. Otherwise you will have a hell of a time getting it apart and back together. Plus it will most likely leak oil from the joint between the pan and timing cover.

Cracked vortech heads on a "new" engine?

I would be telling them that they can pressure test it if you have already. Your not their R&D or support department!

    73 c20 Suspension replacement.

I would try shocks. You could take them off and roll down the alley to see if the noise goes away. As far as brand goes many are good just don't cheap out on it. Go with a monroe or gabriel gas charged middle of the price range shock and you will be fine.

Not a perfect pic but you can see the light socket lying next to the control with the grey and black wires going to it. The socket installs into the rounded area on the right side of the cotrol.

Does this diagnosis sound correct? low oil pressure blue smoke on start

When are you getting this low oil pressure? Does it rise with the RPM? Smoke on start up is usually caused by the valve seals while oil rings would permit a more constant smoke

Retrofit normal washer pump in place of wiper motor one?

It's a pretty easy swap. You will need a universal washer pump, a tee and some extra hose. mount the pump below the level of the bottom of your reservoir and connect the the lines. I believe the plug with the white and black wires is what you need to unplug from the factory pump and splice onto...

    Convenional vs Synthetic

I always felt that synthetic was a superior oil however I have yet to run it. I always ran dino oil with no problems. Mobil was my oil of choice only because my Mom worked for an oil packaging buisness and could get all my lube and coolant needs met for free. That said, being that Iowan is a...

    C10 lift options?

One of the best adders you could do to your 2wd would be a locking differential. Preferably selectable for winter driving. Next would be tires. You will have enough traction and clearance to have some fun.

rear window 77 suburban off track or something

Open up the inspection panel on the gate and have a look see. Might be off the track, the window run in the track is damaged or missing or there is an issue with the regulator.
