    Runs out of fuel…

1986 GMC 1500 Sierra Classic 4x4 SWB w/Q-jet 305”/700R4 I rebuilt the Q-jet (I didn’t replace the 2 (throttle butterfly) seals on housing I have to prime the carburetor or spray starter fluid on air cleaner to start it. It takes a few tries. Once it’s running, I can turn it off and it will...

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

With that crappy aftermarket bracket, and no available pump having a rear mount, once it was installed, I could move entire pump with my free hand. I took that junk bracket off and just shimmied up the OEM bracket, and now I can’t move that thing with a crowbar.

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

I don’t know what bracket you’re thinking of or why you would think that my stock bracket is thin and bendable. It’s 1/8” steel plate. you could beat somebody to death with this oem bracket. …and how do you think that four bolts is, in any way, stronger than 8 bolts? And I’m not about to...

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

I gave up… This useless thing was not designed for my pump or something. There is only 2 bolts that would end up holding it to the brackets and only 2 bolts on the bracket holding it to the block. The original bracket had five bolts holding the brackets to the head & water pump & 3 bolts...

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

I wasn’t aware they are separable. How do you do that?

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

I don’t think this is a standalone bracket. after lining up all the bolt holes with the new bracket, I am still able to align the old bracket with unused holes, except the adjuster arm, which seems quite unneeded since the original bracket has a mounting slider slot where are the new adjuster...

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

… and the two bolts to come with the kit, aren’t even bolts. They are Allen head studs with nuts and washers.

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

This is the only way it will mount and where my hand is touching the two bracket mounts, are the only places holding the entire pump. … they are both on the front of the pump and one is adjustable. That doesn’t seem very strong or stable. How is that supposed to resist against the constant...

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

…And i’m not exactly sure where to attach the adjuster arm to the engine. everything I’ve researched, and everything that has been suggested, say that you mount it to the water pump, but does that mean you remove a water pump bolt and attach it to the outside of the water pump or do they mean...

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

Interesting… If the two bracket bolts just bolt to the block, I guess you’re just supposed to discard the nuts & washers? Why does it even come with em? and there isn’t any bolt hole in the back of the pump where all diagrams (I've found or been shown) where the bracket is supposed to mount...

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

There was absolutely nothing “flimsy” about the OEM bracket I took off. I give up for the night. I cannot figure out anyway this bracket fits. there’s no where to attach it from or to. I’m completely lost

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

Simpler? Lol… I’m feeling pretty simple, right now. Maybe I’m just having a bad day, but figuring out how this thing bolts up, is kicking my ass. …sigh I am not this stupid. Why is this bracket cleaning my clock? does the new bracket bolt to part of the old bracket? I don’t understand...

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

Quite the puzzle when they reinvent the puzzle. obviously the top two are the original bracket and the bottom one is the Summit replacement bracket. Has anybody installed one of these?

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

My mistake… upon removal of the power steering bracket, it does not “share” a mounting bolt with the water pump. The inner lower bolt, mounts TO the water pump.

Water pump/power steering pump, shared mounting bolt/stud

1986 GMC 4x4 Sierra Classic 1500 SWB W/305” on 700R4 I bought a new power steering pump mounting bracket from Summit. It is so extremely different from the original, that at first, I thought it was the wrong mount. Lol Anyway… The water pump & power steering pump share a couple mounts...

    700R4 torque converter cover

I finally found the thick aluminum 4x4 cover, but now I need the 8 bolts. 6 for mounting the cover & two for the stabilizer arms. I’m going to assume they are different sizes. I am having a problem in terminology. I can’t even Google the two stabilizer arms, let alone the two bolts that...

    Front hub specialty socket

1986 GMC 1500 Sierra Classic 4x4 SWB w/305” on a 700R4 I’m doing the front brakes. what is the size of the specialty socket for removing the first hub nut? and what makes it “special?”

How to change brakes on a 1/2 ton 4x4.

What size is the specialty socket for the first hub bolt? when I’m standing in front of the parts guy, I want to be able to answer his questions if he is ignorant to this tool. Obviously I am just as ignorant. …and what exactly makes this socket looking tool “special”?

    Fuel supply issue

After two or three days of sitting, no amount of cranking, or pumping the gas pedal, has any effect on initial start up. Which tells me, there’s no fuel in the bowl for the Excelerator pump to “accelerate” into the barrels. But if I just pour a capful or two of gas into the carburetor, or...
