Need opinions on part selection for static drop C10

You and I have different meanings for that word hahaha. Welcome to board, nice plans for the ride. I'm sure you and your son will love getting your hands dirty with this one. I dont have much to contribute in regards to lowering a truck though, sorry.

    Vin swap/cab swap

I wouldnt want to get the gubmint further involved in my vehicles. Swap away and dont say a thing. Chances of being caught are slim, also i assume you would get a bill of sale or some sort of ownership document to the donor cab just in case. I know a guy who sells vin plates and titles only...

    1979 Trans Am - 25 years in a garage

Finally had some time to yank the engine last weekend. Once again on dirt with the help of the Mrs. and some scrap plywood. This time was much easier for two reasons: 1. There was no tranny attached to it like the Tahoe drivetrain I pulled. 2. The car isnt being scrapped so I dont have to have...

Ultra rare collectible square body trucks?

Those cars you mentioned were performance oriented limited availability models targeted at a specific buyer. Depending on the buyer, or your ability to sell, the rare sticker / paint package trucks like that dodge up above are rare in the sense that they look a little different, not generally...

    2in or 4in?

x2 on the 2" unless you want to drop some coin on supporting mods to make it all work correctly. Also, consider tuff country springs if you are looking for a nicer ride. Also at 4" you're gonna want considerably bigger tires to fill the wheel wells and depending on your stock gearing that will...

    Lug nut thread engagement

Dorman makes wheel studs in different lengths and sizes. You will need to know the diameter, thread pitch, and knurl length of the current stud plus the overall length desired.

Went searching for firebirds and got 20 actual results once I removed the dealer posts. Mostly 10K plus cars, only 2 under 3k. And this little dealer gem https://cnj.craigslist.org/ctd/d/newark-acura-lexus-bmw-benz-infiniti-vw/6874736253.html

GMT 330 buckets in a Square? Anybody try it before?

The floors in squares elevated so that might pose a challenge. I remember reading somewhere that the floors were cut and flattened to accommodate the taller later model seats and brackets. Now if you adapt those GMT330 seats to the square body brackets and the seat bottoms of both are about...

84 Tilt column shaft not out far enough

Its a bit tedious with all the small parts in tight quarters but I imagine its easier to do a preventative service on the thing while its out than after you installed it. When I did mine I used this writeup: http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=12525.0 If the tilt feels...

84 Tilt column shaft not out far enough

I'm gonna suggest you tear it down as far as the tilt assembly, clean, lube, tighten, and reassmble. With the proper tools it will take a mechanically inclined person who has never taken a tilt column apart under 2 hours to have it stripped down and back together including drink breaks.

Short step side bed swap 1984

I think the C10 is worth 1000 (maybe 750-800) for the bed. You can part out whatever else you dont use and recoup some money. Not sure what is involved in filling the spare tire well besides time and money. Pick which one you want to spend more of. The only suggestion I can make to you is to...

Pulling drive train, should I remove the front clip?

I like pulling the core support, dont even have to pull the hood. Make it easier to remove the engine and trans together. I also do my work outside so while it may require extra labor its part of getting the job done for me.

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

This fee can be good and bad. It should reduce useless reposts and fake listings, but it may deter the casual on the fence seller from listing their possibly cool old junker. Back to driving around and lookin for cars in barns and yards.
