James- the tolex idea sounds great. I had to look at up to see what exactly that was. I will be running something on the thinner side on the front side of the fluid/parts box. Maybe some type of mesh or something. Not sure yet as im still thinking on it. Every cm matters cause these trucks are... -

I got the brackets to hold the 6×9 speakers from wheels411. 55 dollars or so for the brackets. A direct fit in. Speakers are Kickers... the highest dollar ones they make. Amp is cerwin Vega. Its a 100 dollar amp. My headunit is a retro sound. No subwoofer for me. Just some better than average... -

1964 Chevy ll ls1/t56 swap
i would look into a Torquer V2 cam. The cam checks out on all points. It sounds good, puts power down on the dyno, hard to beat at the track and it has torque everywhere. We just did a ls1 car that put down on 450 rwhp with this camshaft with hand ported 243 heads.- Z28 Guy

1964 Chevy ll ls1/t56 swap
What head, cam and intake you plan on doing on the ls1 ? My 2000 Z28 6 speed car puts down right at 500 rwhp on a very stingy 48 inch drum dyno. Thats on a factory 799 head caating on top of a LS2 bottom end with a cam motion camshaft. My goals is 10s all motor.- Z28 Guy

Mickey Thompsons on and the Z28 will is just about test and tune ready. Im go be chasing a 10 second timeslip on motor with a T56. Cant wait to load it up on my trailer behind my truck and post some pictures. On the other hand im still collecting info amd paying attention to big block builds...- Z28 Guy

BBC heads??
Hard choice on heads. I do know Brodix have great customer service and i never seen a cracked Brodix head. I have seen a cracked LS TFS head but not for a big block. Good thread here- Z28 Guy

I want to keep my truck running while another engine is built then when the built engine ia done i would like to do a 2 to 3 day engine swap. Bucket~The 280 TFS heads are bad to the bone. Eric W... a famous head porter and youtube tested a line of oval heads and the AFR 265 and TFS 280 head makes the best torque in the imdusty hands down. Now you got me thinking about that youtube video/channal. On the pistons... how much compression...- Z28 Guy

well that sounds like interesting build. Im taking notes and learning daily for sure. I never knew you could run LS coil packs on a L29 with some tweaks. Thats awesome. Keep me posted on how your builds turn out. Speaking of notes i want to share these with yall and want opinions.- Z28 Guy

489ci tow build...
Specs on my 454 is that it is bone stock engine for the 87 model R20. I think its rated at 240hp/330TQ which is weak for a 454 ci motor. I have thought about a 8.1 swap however the aftermarket for them are very slim. Plud the 8.1 parts are really high dollar. I have thought about a L29 swap...- Z28 Guy

BBC 489 build
My 6 speed Z28 LS2 powered made 480 to the tire with HOME PORTED 799 heads with a fast 102mm intake and a camshaft from cam motion. By head porter/builder has a similar combo thats been 10.2s at 130 plus in a 3500 pound 99 Z28 car. Almost forgot to mention that 480 to the tire was done on a...- Z28 Guy

Not all the way sure on budget yet. I do plan on going with forged internals for a peace of mind. In my case with a engine never going over 4000 rpm i wonder is a aftermarket head worth the cash vs a factory head with some valves/springs etc ?- Z28 Guy

This is my tow build here for my 1987 R20 pickup. I have a 20ft trailer and a 2000 Z28 that i will tow on occasions or as needed. The truck is a camper special model. The truck has a 454/400 setup right now from the factory but it dont handle the weight of a trailer like a big block should. So...- Z28 Guy

87 headlight bezel color ?
What color dupli-color can silver can i use to paint headlight bezels ? Truck is a 87 model... How can i prep the bezels for paint ? I was go pick up a can of paint today but i seen six different shades of silver... Any help will be appeciated.- Z28 Guy
