Help with the name of this part and what does it control.

I believe that is the EFE valve. Basically a vacuum actuated exhaust valve that's part of the emissions system. See below.

    Quadrajet Choke missing?

Yes. Your choke is missing. This might get you started but it will need a rod and works better with the little cover. Might have to hit up a restoration place or a junkyard.

    700r4 overdrive?

Not an expert on the 700r4. But I do know that the TV cable is vital to the survival of that transmission. If you replaced the Carburator and didn't get that TV cable just right that may be part of the issue. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will chime in soon.

Have i decoded this VIN correctly????

    That's exactly right.

Have i decoded this VIN correctly????

Nope. Those are K30 axles. Well, to be more accurate the front is a K30 axle. The rear could be a K20 14 bolt or a K30 14 bolt. If you measure spring pad to spring pad on the rear you'll know whether it's a K10/20 frame or a K30 frame. One tons had the springs closer together. K10/K20 rear...

Have i decoded this VIN correctly????

Not sure about where all the parts came from but that appears to be a factory 4-wheel drive frame. It also appears that you have a Dana 60 one ton front end and a 14-bolt one ton rear end. Great combo of parts. But I think its safe to say you have a Frankentruck. I hope you can get it all...

Sad Discovery: GM 10 Bolt Fails

Isn't that a gov lock? Can you get internals for those? Is it worth it? I'd probably rebuild it with an open carrier if you're not going to wheel it. Or a mild posi. But I wouldn't put money into a gov lock.

    Rag joint question (see picture)

Here's what the 74 manual has to say.

    Rag joint question (see picture)

Yes. The missing splines go where the flat spot is. The pinchbolt passes at the groove that is around the input shaft. Remove pinch bolt completely and replace when the rag joint is on the shaft and the hole is lined up with the groove.

    Rag joint question (see picture)

There should be a flat spot on the input shaft of the steering box. That's where flat spot goes.

    Fusible link?

Chances are there was a pinched wire in or around the column and was shorting to ground thru the rag joint/steering box while the top of the column was loose.

Brake Master Cylinder, what adapters do I need to make this work? Pic's inside.

Fyi guys. 1/2 ton masters have front res to front brakes and rear res to rear brakes. 3/4 and one ton is opposite. Front res is rear brakes and rear res is front brakes. Make sure you plumb correctly.
  17. R

Rear end gear ratio change or transmission change ?

Fyi. Sounds like either it's not shifting or it's not really spinning 5000. Unless you have serious low rear gears.

    Where's everyone mounting their CB's

I used to have mine down under the dash and at one time on the front of the center console. Made it pretty easy to reach BUT If I was on the skinny peddle I couldn't hear it without maxing the volume. My K5 used to be super loud. Once I finished the cage and put in an overhead switch panel I...

Fixing vapor lock now that I barely made it home, experience with 3 port filters?

So. Just a crazy idea here. I've read back thru this topic and can't find any mention of how your tank is vented. Is the charcoal can intact? If not is the line open? or plugged? I've seen before when people pull all the emissions stuff off and plug every open line that the tank starts to...

Front edge of hood sitting high.

I'd say you have an early 70s hood with a late 70s remote release hood latch. The safety hook was oriented differently on the early "outside" release latch. Should be able to pop a slot in the hood and get it to work. There a good witness mark on the hood. Good news is it looks like you figured...

This makes 0 sense to me! Heater hose route

Hey man no worries. The 86 manual shows the path I describe as well. Plenty of variation thru the years, though so idk either...but if you think about the coolant flow on a std rotation water pump. Coolant goes from passenger tank (cold) to water pump (cold) to engine, thru engine to intake...

This makes 0 sense to me! Heater hose route

It IS an either or. On non auto vehicles it went manifold (hot side) to core, core to water pump (cold side) On auto vehicles it goes manifold to core, core to radiator, it does this to dump a little heat into the cold tank of the radiator where the trans cooler is to get the trans up to temp...

    steering box bolts

The spacer provides for proper stretch on the fastener to maintain clamping force. I've seen many people omit the spacer and deal with repeated loosening of the box.
