    Spray booth??

Just to make it clear, this isn’t advocating one way or another, just sharing my thoughts on this subject as I had done a lot of thinking and reading and figuring on what I want to do for my 79. Your intentions and goals are likely different than mine to some extent. I had drawn this up last...

    Spray booth??

What is your intended use for the booth? A booth won’t necessarily make or break a paint job, lots of very good work has been done outdoors or even in dirt floor machine sheds and such, and less than stellar work has been done in state of the art downdraft booths. I did the roof of my dart...

Twitchy steering with a big travel trailer (rear sway bar help?)

If the tires have/had uneven wear you might be experiencing some tread pull too. My tire guy recommends an X pattern rotation for trucks. Not sure if other rotation patterns would be better or worse, but I trust his judgment.

Twitchy steering with a big travel trailer (rear sway bar help?)

For reference, I run my 2nd gen at 45psi up front and 35 in the rear when not towing. That’s on 35x12.5x17, but ran around the same when I had the approx 33” 4th gen 18” stocks and stock 31” tall tire on stock 16” wheel. All 10ply tires. Rides pretty good considering. Towing I’ll put the rear...

    Spray booth??

I have not personally, but where my shop is there is a guy that has one. Seems to work pretty good for him. I had looked into them and considered getting one. I’m still on the fence about them. The pros are you deflate it, and should be able to get it packed up in a tote or two and be out of...

What new tools have you got lately?

I also picked up one of those hydraulic flaring tools, the three HF stores closest were out of stock (go figure), not available for online ordering. Thankfully my dad was going to be passing by a store that had them in stock and was able to pick one up. I’ve got some other Maddox tools, small...

    Good rear gears

4.56 was the lowest ratio available for an 84 2500 series, even with a 30.5" tire that is about 3500rpm at 65mph. 4.10s with the same size tire is about 3150rpm at 65mph. So worst case scenario it is not really that bad. Compared to new vehicles with 5,6,8,10 speeds yes it might seem like its...

    Good rear gears

Figure out what ratio it is now and what your tire size is. That information would give us something to work off of.

Dashboard "frame" removal 1984 GMC C1500

The dashes are spot welded to and are one layer of metal at the windshield flange. To remove the dash the spot welds must be drilled/cut.

Searching for My Dad's 1979 Chevy Suburban

I agree with @PrairieDrifter looks serviceable. Now, that isn’t to say that a new harness would be a bad idea or anything like that. But it appears to be mostly intact. Either way you go, I would make some considerations first, stuff like what radio you might plan on using, gauges, if you are...

Searching for My Dad's 1979 Chevy Suburban

I think my buddy used a painless harness in his 75 K5. Got some pictures of the wiring mess (we like pictures)? Looking at some of the previous pictures you shared appears to have aftermarket gauges/tach and a din radio cut in. If the spaghetti wiring is from the added on stuff, and the OE...

77 with 241c transfer case. What shifter?

I would think the shifter used with the NP208 trucks would be very close or the same to what a 241C equipped truck would use.

I’m going to take a guess based on OP’s location that’s maple syrup units, 100kph is about 62mph. Could be wrong though.

1985 C20: Carb not getting fuel

What carburetor is on the truck? If you have good flow to the carb, hook the line back up and crank for a few seconds, then while staring into the throat of the carb (likely will have to Hold the choke flap open), cycle the throttle lever on the carb a couple times, this will pump the...

1985 C20: Carb not getting fuel

Pull the fuel line off the carb and insert into a bottle, crank truck for a few seconds. It should fill the bottle up a fair amount. If it does the fuel pump is ok and getting fuel to carb, if it doesn’t fill the bottle or very little, check fuel pump and connections from pump rearward.

battery junction Block issue ( see photos)

In your case since you have an LS with the OE junction/"jump point" then it could be redundant. Factory there would be no such junction, thus the firewall mounted one. That would allow for some modularity as not all trucks would require the same wiring.

Searching for My Dad's 1979 Chevy Suburban

On a straight axle truck you can get pretty close with a tape measure. Make a reference mark on each tire and tape measure across from the front, rotate tires 180⁰ so marks are rearward and shoot the tape across again. Compare your two numbers and that gives you a basic idea of where it's at...
