Alt Replacement Options? A bit confused.
What you have on there is a 12si unit. A little over 90 amp output, a nice improvement over the older 10si units. Standard (or maybe optional) on the later trucks. A power master 12si would be a direct swap and I think would provide satisfactory results.- legopnuematic

Hydro boost brakes awful sound after finishing motor swap
My hydro boost experience begins and ends with my Dodge, but I believe the systems are reasonably similar. They both use Saginaw pumps and steering gear, the hydro boost units themselves might even interchange (to some extent). My advice to anyone buying an HVLP/HTE (gravity feed) spray gun is to spend a couple bucks and get a PPS style system. Harbor Freight sells their Spectrum line and is affordable to get into and is compatible with the PPS stuff (like the adapters). I use Tamcos T-cups and spectrum stuff. Makes...- legopnuematic

Not necessarily, there are improvements with the later Q-jets that can make them more appealing if one was seeking a core to build for an engine. External APT adjustment, hot air or electric choke (hot air can be converted easily to electric), I think there was some ‘circuit’ improvements to...- legopnuematic

What you are looking for should be on the drivers side of the carb, towards the rear: Cliff’s site here A Varajet is a progressive type 2 barrel carb used on 4 bangers. You have a non mod quad, so it’s 1975 and earlier design.- legopnuematic

What have you done to your square lately??
Plunked a Q-jet that I had done up for the 79, that ended up on the Dart, then has sat around for a couple years on the 76 as a stop gap while I work on rebuilding the one off of the 76. Fired it up for the first time in a couple months.- legopnuematic

Couple of things from Harbor Freight, and another set of wheel dolly's to replace the pair I ruined unloading the Dodge off of the rollback. I think the plug and caps will be very handy for painting and media blasting. Should work for powder coating too. Have the oven, just need a powder coat...- legopnuematic

Oil Pressure Drops After High RPM
5-30 is too thin in my opinion for a run of the mill small block or big block. 10-30, 10-40, 15-40, 20-50 for these old mills. Personally 15-40 in everything I own. The 76 has 20-50 VR1 in it, but was 15-40 before the last oil change.- legopnuematic

Winch looks nice, the weight savings of the synthetic rope over a cable is nice too. At least it's electric.
