Anyone going to the Portland Swap Meet this year (2025)?

Looks like a good time. Looks like you get some pretty good deals too. Around here is a lot of guys that have been attempting to sell the same corroded junk intakes that need all the threads drilled and helicoiled for literally years. Typically asking around 10% less of what a new one is...

    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

I would think a 4l80e would be a lot cheaper, even gone through with good parts than building a TH400, adding a lockup converter, then adding a gear vendors to achieve basically the same end result. Except you can’t do the gear splitting with a 4l80e like you can a GV. If you are intending on...

    Frame & undercarriage advise!

Thank you. I have not found any specific reference, but I have found a few other 71 Darts that are optioned almost identical to mine, slant six, automatic, manual brakes, power steering, A/C, rim blow wheel, ember gold interior, Y9 exterior with vinyl top. Mine was a vinyl top, I removed it...

    350 High Inconsistent Idle

Might give a quick check with a wrench on the intake and carb mounting bolts, I've had them loosen up a little (or the gaskets settled/compressed some).

    Finally got a running 65 C10

A magnet on a stick might be enough to have it stuck on the end of the valve stem and keep the valve held up to slip the retainers on. Or not, but might work.

    Finally got a running 65 C10

I used rope when I did valve springs on my slant six and worked fine, stuff it in and rotate crank slowly until it holds the valves up I used some cheap synthetic rope maybe 1/2" diameter.

Slow cranking when trying to start

Where do your ground wires from the battery go? To the frame? Engine block? Alternator bracket?

    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

Side note, Pur Performance is in my neck of the woods. I've spent more time in their parking lot than in the store lol. They used to to car shows and then swap meets there. It's literally just out of frame in the picture

Anyone running wipers bigger than 16" oem?

But, but, that’s not what the 73 brochure says! They were designed with the aid of a COMPUTER!

    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

Lower rpm does not always equal better fuel economy. If the engine is always lugging it’s probably going to drink more fuel than spinning a little more RPM but loading the engine less. For 35s in a one ton 4x4 I’d think 4.56 would be nice, or 33s and 4.10s would be well suited. Are you...

    Frame & undercarriage advise!

Nice! I have not been to the Mopar Nationals yet. My boss and his brother used to setup at the Indy swap meet. My grandfather’s first car was a 1963 Belvedere, 383 with push button torqueflite. Here’s a couple pics of my Dart: 225 with some goodies, Clifford 4 barrel intake, Dutra Dual split...

New Hinge Alignment with NO Reference Marks

This is for a 70s truck, if you look in an 80s service manual (pdfs available on the forum here) it should have it with any changes made for the restyled front. Give you an idea on what dimensions and tolerances should be for gaps: That’s why I advocate for removing or at minimum pulling the...

    4:10 gears for 86 k10

For the gears themselves, look into Revolution Gear and Axle. @TotalyHucked just installed a set into his GMT800 (still a 10 bolt) and they patterned up nicely and quiet. They are 2 cut gears, not 5 cut, so they will pattern a little differently than the old 5 cut gears. Just to note as most...

    Will a 8.5 Camaro 10 bolt axle fit in a 1981 squarebody?

A Camaro should be a 5x4.75 bolt pattern, a 2wd 1/2 ton is 5x5 bolt pattern. Meaning you need different wheels for the rear, or change (or redrill) axles or run adapters. In my opinion, you’d be far better off to find a reputable person to install new gears/posi in your current 10 bolt...

    Instrument panel light question

1973-1977 or 78 the brake light switch is just for the proportioning valve. My 79 has a switch on the parking brake pedal. My 76 does not. Somewhere between 77 to 79 it was added.

    Frame & undercarriage advise!

Look up the vehicle information kit (from GM heritage center) for your year, or the appropriate year brochure, that will tell you the names of the colors offered for that year. Sometimes colors changed names over the years (or Chevy to GMC), sometimes the name and color itself changed. As far...

Does the crank actually have threads in it? I know the earlier SBC's just have a center drill center but no threads.

New Hinge Alignment with NO Reference Marks

My advice is to remove the fenders, or at minimum remove the bolts/loosen core support and pull as far forward as possible. Then with hinges on the a pillars, and striker installed, slot door into aperture, install bolts from hinge to door. With the door panel removed you can get a torx or...

Can anyone tell me what this is??

@brooksman9 @bucket My 76 had an aftermarket cruise setup like that. Magnet glued to the driveshaft with proximity sensor self tappered to the floor. Magnet flew off in the first week of owning the truck. I pulled everything out of the truck not long after, kept it though in a shoe box. The...

    1978 k10 hood

In order to get it more straight, you need to remove your reinforcement, straighten the hood, then you can add reinforcement. The reinforcement you added will resist bending in both directions. If you try to straighten it with it, it will likely kink the hood the opposite direction in two...

What have you done to your square lately??

A very common mistake in woodworking. Finishing only one side will allow moisture in the unsealed side and with moisture changes it will cup. Lots of people's tables have gone canoe shaped because of not being sealed on the bottom.
