    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

That’s good that there is minimal runout, seems less common with the open and limited slips, but spools really seem to be bad for being warped or not true. Still easy enough to check and rule out. It’s hard to say without seeing it in person, looks like your drive side is fairly...

What have you done to your square lately??

Spectra Premium tanks are (or were) made in Canada, eh. Pricing has been reasonable, about $120/tank.

    BBC 489 build

Had the same thing when I did the dingleball rebuild on the slant six in my Dart, put new cam bearings and and go to drop the cam in (literally, had the block stood up) and a had do do some scraping and honing. Thankfully without the crank in place there is plenty of access.

    E-brake options after BIG lift?

Another possible source would be 1994-2000 dodge ram 2500s, those are even longer cables than the squarebody stuff. Same basic setup as the later 80s GMs but without the threaded ends. If you have the capability to fab parts, that really opens up the possibilities on how to make something...

    E-brake options after BIG lift?

Since you are working with a sort of blank slate, here is what the early style is: And then the later style. Much more simple and how most (likely all) are now. You’d have to do some measuring to see, but this is the stock passenger side cable for an 85 K30, it’s the long side, almost 53 inches...

    E-brake options after BIG lift?

They might. Not sure if the “barrel” on the end will would cause any problems being oriented like that or not. The original ones should be oriented like this: And you have a 14 bolt full floater correct?

    E-brake options after BIG lift?

In Missouri it should not be an issue.

    Transfer case gaskets

Not used on GM 208s (208s were used by GM, ford, and dodge). Most of those gasket/seal/bearing kits are for multiple transfer cases, so typical they have some unused parts. Annoying they don’t mention this or what fits what case.

    E-brake options after BIG lift?

If you move the mounts forward, shorten the cables ahead of the brackets and source longer cables to the backing plates, that will help your angles out. That way it still holds tight to the frame and won’t be a ground dragger. Maybe able to get a universal kit that’s long enough, or search...

    Missing air vent component?

Looks like you are missing the plenum valve/fresh air valve. You should have a flapper in the cowl, visible under the cowl screen outside, when you are in a non recirculating mode it allows fresh air from the cowl, and directs it to the blower, in recirculating mode (max ac for example) it will...

The adapter to 700r4 should be a square profile O-ring. The gasket in you photo on the right is adapter to np208

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Here is today’s musings. I’ve been on a casual search for a while now for a nice steel top workbench/welding table. There is a fellow about an hour away that has some various ones for sale, now this guy has probably 200+ items listed on Craigslist, all kinds of stuff (leaning more to junk/scrap...

    Nice squarebody on BaT

Interesting, can’t comment on the Sequoia Special part, but that is an impressive SPID sheet(s)!

    Nice squarebody on BaT

That’s sort of what I was thinking, to help with achieving CAFE or emissions standards.

    Nice squarebody on BaT

I got that information from the 1984 brochure, I’m not sure if that could have been overrode to get dual 20 gallon tanks. Also I see it is C6P, not CP6 for the RPO. I live the simple life with my 76, longbed = 20 gallon tanks. Single or dual lol.

    Nice squarebody on BaT

I don’t know the actual reason, but 80’s long beds with a single tank got a 20 gallon tank. Longbeds with dual tanks got dual 16 gallon tanks, unless if it was over 8600GVWR? (CP6?), then dual 20 gallon tanks.

You got that right, way, way heavier than a 10/12 bolt carrier, I think we figured it’s about 90lbs assembled (with ring gear, tone ring, bearings, and bolts)

Yeah you’re not too far, about 120 miles from me, I’m up in the Saint Charles area. Not sure why but it seems like the third (and even fourth) gens rust out way worse around here than the second gens do. Depending on how bad the bed is, you might be able to find a nice complete bed for less...

What new tools have you got lately?

@Frankenchevy Harbor Freight will be having a 20% off any Icon scanner for 1/28, one day only for ITC members if you hadn't seen already. Here is what all of the deals will be for the ITC appreciation days. Some pretty decent deals to be had, and no limits on quantity. Depending on what one...

Thank you, I'm pretty well in for projects at the moment, but you never know. What kind of love does it need lol? What part of the Ozarks are you in? Thank you! It was a fun project, a learning experience for me in some regards as it was my first time messing with manual locking hubs, rather...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

I say first do some checking to attempt to find out where the runout is coming from. 0.004 variation is fairly significant. Set your indicator up to check the rear face of the ring gear, the OD of the ring gear, and on the back of the flange where the ring gear bolts are (if possible). If you...
