    The RPO is the production code. The color code you will probably have to go to a body or upholstery shop that has old color sample books. I know my body shop guy comes to me when he needs info on 1930-1960 codes.

    I would use this avenue first. Nothing like taking a hit in their piggy-bank to get someone's attention. Miscommunication is one thing; blatant disregard for basic customer service is inexcusable. IMHO!

    Crazy question

    Bolt the new one in, but before you do this drill some small weep holes on the backside [front] before installing. Lets the moisture out and is not noticeable since it's toward the rear of the cab. Be sure to treat the newly exposed bare metal with a rust preventative coating.

    Welcome from N. Texas! I like to keep things simple. I would just bet that after all the years since the truck came off the line, the bottom of the fuel tank(s) looks like the grease trap in a fried chicken joint kitchen. Not fun to clean out, but a necessary evil in the world of vintage...
