K20 shocks? Single or dual front and brand?

The quad shocks are supposed to be valved to work in tandem.I ran them years ago and broke the drivers side mount on the axle while scouting for deer.Honestly it was a gimmick in a year that didn’t have a new engine or something.Maybe it’s useful for towing, but 1 good shock is enough,IMO.I...

    Burb Needs a New Transmission

Reliable/simplicity is a attribute I would take more than fuel economy.NV 4500s are nice,4L80s are nice. SM-465s and Turbo 400s aren’t nice, but reliable and super long lasting. If this vehicle isn’t a daily driver and cost is obviously a concern, why spend the money for nice?

    Which is best?

The GM Dana 44 and gm 10 bolt are pretty equal as a frontend assembly. The 44 you have is a heavy duty style with flat top knuckles. It’s a nice axle. Both axles have a ton of aftermarket support, but the 44’s support is amazing. There’s nothing you can’t find for it. The 44’s housing, yours in...

Rear Axles, What Changed in 1977 ?

The only parts that’s interchangeable between the 44 and 10 bolt is the outers/stub shafts, wheel bearings,hubs.19 spline. Different widths on 14 bolts those years with narrow versions being on cab & chassis and the widest versions on some vans at 69”,I believe or 67 1/2. you want the same...

Swapping from 14B semi-float to 14B full float

Get a FF 14 bolt from pre 1980 3/4 ton.2wD or 4WD,don’t matter.I believe starting year was 1973’.Can’t be a 1 ton as the perches are narrower. .I believe the spring perch center to center is either 42.5” or 43.5”.Somewhere there. It’ll bolt right. No conversion ujoints needed.

    Sheared bolts

Well Uggga duggas are a problem when not used correctly.A tire shop that doesn’t torque your lug nuts is isn’t a place I’d take my truck. No one likes replacing broken studs,no likes using a 1” cheater on a 1/2” breaker bar cause some jackleg wants to crank on your shit with an over air supplied...

New guy, old truck, oil pressure issues

Welcome. Your distributor runs the oil pump.Running rough, odd oil pressure...I might check that. Also, even a cheap gauge screwed into your sender port might help confirm what your pressure really is.May have to use some bushings and nipples to adapt the gauge.

    1995 Suburban Family Battlewagon

I know you have a plan, but maybe a beefier rearend should be considered if the Yukon fails.I know there was 6 lug 14 bolts (semi float) through the 90s in some 1/2 ton trucks.I know for sure that the SS 454 pickup had it.Just saying.

What have you done to your square lately??

ev no problem at all.If that’s what you decide to do,make sure your front drive shaft is greased up,mainly the ball in the cv joint. There’s a little indention in the casting that takes a needle attachment tip.203 transfercase front shafts turn all the time, unless converted and running locking...
