    Door panel repair

So an update. I decided to incorporate the dash material into the door pulls and arm rests to tie the interior together better. Will honestly probably do a dark brown door pull and just keep the Swede arm rest. Now the bad... I am unsure if this is bondo cracking or crinkling of the paint...

    Wheel/Ride Height change?

this is kind of the track I want to go, thanks for the tips!

    Wheel/Ride Height change?

I agree, I was going to do tires first, then go from there. I still want a staggered look. Call me crazy, but I am REALLY hooked on 295 or greater tires in the rear. I would only consider like a 325 because the aspect ratio makes the sidewall taller (325/50 will have a taller sidewall than a...

    Wheel/Ride Height change?

I can see what you are talking about with the front end being pretty low. I like rake, just my opinion.

    Taillights/Tag lights out

Agreed, I don’t think I “fixed” anything. For the time being, I will be able to drive it at night if need be, but if/when this problem comes back, I know it is up by the fusebox. This is all the distance I could get without straining the wires... maybe I’m missing something, but the harness...

    Taillights/Tag lights out

After putting the fuse box back in, I hooked up the battery and gave the chassis a once over. Crawled from the rear all the way to the front tires looking for damage. I gave up until I turned on my lights... I must have jostled something when messing with the fusebox. What the heck. These have...

    Taillights/Tag lights out

So I pulled the fuse box, I am lost... I don’t see anything problematic, but then again it is too shallow for me to get anything in there. I felt the wires because that’s all I could do with the space I had, nothing is chaffed or disconnected.

    Taillights/Tag lights out

Oh my gosh, THANK YOU! I will check this out tonight!!! I actually removed that “T” last night for the trailer lights. I depleted the trailer lights until I fix my lights. Less variables in the mix for the time being. Good catch.

    Taillights/Tag lights out

    Taillights/Tag lights out

well I’ve been working on the truck in general all night, including this issue. I found some cut wires, so I I re-spliced them. Also re-did the grounds only to find nothing is getting power, taillight/plate light wise. It’s gotta be up front. Headlights do work. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Taillights/Tag lights out

Any ideas? Both taillights and the cab taillight are out, as well as the tag lights. Blinkers, brake lights, and reverse lights all work. Headlights work, dash lights work. I cut back the grounds/stripped back the wires and regrounded them with new connections. Didn’t help. thanks!

I do like that too... I’m stuck.

    Wheel/Ride Height change?

I like some meat on the tires, not a fan of rubberband tires. I am leaning towards 16’s if I can find them. But, worse case scenario, I can do 15x10 on the rear and keep the fronts. I like staggered tires, always have.

    Wheel/Ride Height change?

Alright guys. Thinking about going pretty bold here(for me anyways haha). I am a “stock” kind of guy, but the old girl needs tires, and this is the time to change something. I would like opinions/pictures of what you got. Here is my rig with worn out 235/75/15 tires (not sure the rim width??)...

    Unknown engine noise help

Them stethoscopes are great little tools, I love mine. Good luck finding it, I hope it’s nothing major.

    Unknown engine noise help

Any update on the noise? I would check the front accessories with a stethoscope first (being careful not to put it on anything moving of course). This is not a Chevy in this video, BUT I had a TERRIBLE knock/and or whine depending on the day that would go away once it warmed up. It ended up on...

    Best $6 I ever spent.

Thanks guys. Lots of good tips! Might do a dash screen, I am thinking about doing a saddle brown-ish seat cover. That would definitely protect the interior some. Thanks for the compliments. Figured it was worth sharing if someone was in a similar boat. good to know on the steering wheel, I had...

    Best $6 I ever spent.

Good to know! And yeah, it’s a risk I assumed. I know it is far from the best option... but for $6 in material, plus some glue, I am okay with risking it. If it doesn’t work, I will either recover it again, or try something else. But I agree, time will tell on the material. The dash was...

    Best $6 I ever spent.

Thanks guys! Still needs some carpet that is TRASHED and missing sections, so there is no cheap fix on that unless I find a good carpet set at a junkyard. Would like to go tan, but I don’t want stains... may go a dark brown or black just so I can use the truck and not feel bad. Looks like I...

    Best $6 I ever spent.

Thanks! So my neighbor stopped by when I was putting spark plugs in it and said he had a 1988 that had the same steering wheel, so I am thinking it isn’t stock to my 1979. I didn’t put it in though so I can’t confirm.

    Best $6 I ever spent.

Here she is in the day light. Spent about $24 on the door panels (Color change/fixing the holes in the plastic) plus $6 in material on the dash, and lets say a couple dollars on glue sticks. We will just call it $33 ish total, this is how she looks.

    Best $6 I ever spent.

It’s a synthetic Swede. It’s got a decent amount of elesticiy given that I could cover the dash in one piece which I was a big fan on. It’s very low profile, I personally don’t think it looks like Swede until you get up real close or you touch it, then you can tell that it’s not a typical dash...

    Best $6 I ever spent.

It was true purple lol, good observation though. So it looks like some of you are interested in trying this... a reminder that my dash did NOT have vinyl foam. Someone removed it. My concern with covering a cracked vinyl dash would be that you would see the cracks/vinyl peaks if you did not...

    Best $6 I ever spent.

So I bought 2 sq yards because I wanted material for other stuff, but I only used half.
