    Hot wire junction block

As others have said, it's just a plain junction block, not a circuit breaker, and an easy place to get positive voltage for accessories. I cleaned mine up recently, just has the two stock wires on it, one fusible link from the starter, and one going to the under dash fuse block.

Successfully fixed my wiper parking position switch

After reading several great threads on here, I took out my wiper park switch and found that the contact was being held open by a small "blob" of plastic on the stationary contact arm: The contact points could never meet. After careful scrapping and digging, out it came and now the points meet...

Finished up dual battery installation, working well.

Got a couple of hours of free time with no rain today, so I finished up the ground wire upsizing on the '81 C10. Overkill I know but I can rest easy now that everything is large, clean and tight. Here is the stock #10 ground wire that went from the radiator support down to the frame under the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yes, whenever they pop up for sale on Craigslist, Facebook or the local newspaper, it is usually a race between 3 or 4 of the local pinball enthusiasts to get there first. Being retired does help! Your AP looks nice.

What have you done to your square lately??

With inclement weather in the foreseeable future, I decided to put the Beast in hibernation for the next 100 or so days. All the parts and materials will just have to wait for sunshine and dry skies. The garage is already taken by one of the only things I like better than automotive work...

What have you done to your square lately??

Opened two packages from Rock Auto and LMC, anticipated a fun day of work. But we had 2" last night so I decided to just clean up the garage and work inside the house: I need a couple of days with sun to remove the hood and cowling, install the wiper motor and clean up the air plenum and...

I finally realized why I like working on my '81 C10 so much

Because its simplicity reminds me of my younger days of working on my first cars. I started with a '70 Landcruiser FJ40, '62 Ford Falcon sport futura, and later several Datsun 1963 320 pickup trucks. All were simple and easy to work on and I enjoy my '81 for the same reason. And it is larger...

    Vehicle shutoff while driving

Years ago, our '99 Venture van had intermittent issues with random dying. Like all 12-volt power was gone. It would usually restart after a few minutes. I eventually tracked it down to the positive battery cable on the starter where all the other power goes to the fuses. The connection looked...

    EGR Valve Question

sounds like you are referring to a selection of different sized orifices to regulate how much exhaust gas recirculation is allowed when the valve is opened. You need to measure the passageway opening size of the old valve and install the closest size orifice wherever it is meant to be installed.

Finished up dual battery installation, working well.

The ground connection at the power steering bracket was cleaned to bare metal. There are actually 3 brackets that come together at that point so the ground path gets all over the engine from both sides. Since I am 99.99% never installing a camper, the dual battery setup suites my desire of...

Finished up dual battery installation, working well.

Both batteries negative cables go to the engine block. The original passenger side negative cable (now #2awg) goes directly to the engine as from the factory. The new drivers side battery negative cable goes to the engine via the new stud on the radiator support. Any stock factory ground...

Finished up dual battery installation, working well.

Finished everything a few days ago, just need to see what voltage readings I get at the starter terminal when cranking with one battery and then two batteries. From the sounds of the starter turning, it is a higher rpm. I wired the batteries is parallel like the diesel engine set up. The...

Hey everybody I'm Anthony an auto tech from Tucson Arizona. I look forward to getting involved with this discussion forum.

I just recent valve job on my '81 C10 with the same engine and set up. this is my vacuum diagram: This picture of yours shows a large vent line going from the fuel bowl, around to the canister vent purge inlet on the carb base: Remove immediately, that is not the proper routing. This allows...

New member from Montana, '81 C10 longbed, 250 6 cylinder

The likelihood of me taking out the 6 and putting in a V-8 are the same as hitting the powerball. And even if I could afford that, I still wouldn't do it, I like stock originality for the most part. I received my original invoice today from GM Heritage. Easy to order with the VIN and $50...

Twin brother! Only had 2 v-8 engines in my life, I do love a straight 6 for the ease of maintenance. I am not a horsepower freak nor speed demon by any means.

Yes, we have used the truck to move a few people already. And trips to the county landfill. That long bed is very handy.

Here is the interior, pretty plain vanilla I think. But I do love vanilla! Seat had a cover on it until recently, I took it off. Floors look ok, just rust around the door openings. I have the plastic sill plates and new door weather stripping for a summer project. It had a non-functional AM...

thanks for all the welcomes! I will have to take pics of the interior, it is very basic and plain. But here are some more pictures of the engine, amazing how much smoother it runs, I can tell a huge difference having all 6 cylinders making power. Odometer reads 154,000 but I think someone has...

Purchased this truck about 10 years ago for $400, ran poorly but got it home 20 miles. We call it the "Beast". Came from a farm in eastern Montana originally, via several owners. Has the long bed and 4 speed transmission. It has been on the back burner due to other projects until recently. Now...
