    Commuting on a Moto

I've always considered single cylinder bikes as play toys and multi-cylinder bikes as commuter tools. You didn't say how far your commute is, or if it's surface streets vs. freeways, but riding a one-lunger long distance sucks. There are some fine supermoto twins out there. My personal fave...

What have you done to your square lately??

Starter crapped out, but I'm happy it decided to die while I was in my own driveway. I've been wanting to try a mini starter, so after some searching I had Summit send me a Powermaster 9200. This brand gets good reviews and is U.S. made. Installation took longer than it should have because I...

What have you done to your square lately??

Better late than never, right? Installed the ORD steering box brace. I made the mistake of bead blasting and painting it first thing, not knowing I'd have to put it on and take it off a bunch of times while I made clearance notches for lines and hoses. By the time I got it dialed in it needed...

    Sway Bar Bushing Bracket

Anybody have one of these? It's the bushing bracket that holds the center section of a 1 1/4" sway bar to the frame. Needs to be from a 4wd. (I don't know why, but it has a different part number from the 2wd.) Measures aprox. 1 3/4" wide by 4 9/16" long.

    A/C Condenser Mounts

Don't know if anyone has a need for these but I have the upper and lower condenser mounts available. I didn't research this in detail, but saw a reference indicating '81-'91 mounts were all the same. Check for yourself to see if your application can use these from my '89. These are in very good...

What new tools have you got lately?

I still have a few batteries around here that allow the fluid levels to be checked, but the squeeze bulb on my floating-disc type hydrometer rotted away. Saw this unit online and decided to give it a try. It has two rotating discs inside, one with the numbers and the other with a black line on...

EZ Ride springs: Regular or HD

The regular springs are more than enough for my Suburban. I have a stock front bumper but carry a lot of weight on the roof rack. Just my opinion, but it would be a bummer to pay for EZ ride springs and not get a reasonably smooth ride out of them.

What have you done to your square lately??

Picked up a new Interstate battery from Costco. The old one would still start the truck but was getting weak, which was no surprise since it came with a 36 month warranty and was 76 months old. My Costco membership pays cash back based on amount spent and I had a voucher for $71, so my...

    flapper in air intake hose

Check it with a hair dryer on the hottest setting. Aim the dryer at the gold knob and see if the plate rotates. If it operates correctly, get some flexible heat riser tube and hook it up (assuming your exhaust manifold adapter is still there).

'73 Chevelle SS Wagon (local find)

These were an essential part of the 8-track experience. You didn't light them, you usually had to wedge a book under the tape to get it to play correctly. Of course, when you and your friends were in full burn late-night party mode and used all the matches then you couldn't listen to music...

Looking into a new compact car.

Off topic...If you haven't done so already, trash the fabric bra before it does any more damage. I put one of those on my wife's car back in the mid-90s and even though I cleaned/waxed under it every time the car got washed it still screwed up the paint. Little bits of sand and dirt get under...

'85 K5 - Source For Chrome Window Gasket?

LMC has the seals with or without the chrome trim, but I can’t vouch for the quality. My personal opinion, if your truck sits out in the sun all the time I would pass on the chrome accent. Being an aftermarket part, the fake chrome probably won’t last very long and you’ll have the same...

Nah, that drawer liner keeps 'em in place as long as I'm paying attention and don't slam it.

What new tools have you got lately?

I liked the idea of a pliers rack that @Skidmark97 installed a few posts back so I did something similar. I thought this style might hold the various sized handles more easily and they do a good job of it. What previously took up three drawers now fits in two with room to spare. These are called...

'73 Chevelle SS Wagon (local find)

I wonder how hard it would be to suck in the bumpers up to the body? Not the first thing it needs, but from a cosmetic view point that would be a big improvement.

88 suburban fuel pump swap for future ls

My tbi system has been running a Walbro pump and Aeromotive 13301 regulator for 10 years with zero issues. The pump, if I remember correctly, is rated at 180 lph. The reason I didn’t install a 255 lph pump was I was concerned the stock tbi return line couldn’t handle the excess fuel. The tbi...

    emissions help?

How many miles on the odometer? My original cat was a burned out shell at 130k. An aftermarket replacement made a huge difference but they don’t last long. The second replacement was installed with flanges welded on each end and it only gets installed at test time.
