    Rubber or poly bushings

I have used brand name poly bushings (Energy Suspension and Prothane) for suspension & steering components in every old vehicle I've ever owned. I also used poly cab mounts on a 69 C10. Frankly, the only difference I can tell is the vehicles have quicker steering response, and are generally...

    396 cam choice

You probably have an 8.2" 10-bolt. Not exactly up to the task of handing big block torque. At least a torque converter will ease the blows to the drivetrain! I'm not a BBC guy, but would keep cam duration @ .050" in the range of 220 degrees, for example 218 intake/228 exhaust. The only cam...

    ignition switch kit/gear selector

Exactly. Could be the ignition switch needs to be adjusted on the column. My brand new switch took some fine tuning before I could get power in the ACC position. You know where the switch is located, right?

Anyone used Western Chassis lowering kits?

I've had good luck reaching Western Chassis in the past. They need to see how poorly the hanger fits. Have you tried using this form? https://westernchassisinc.com/help.php?section=contactus&mode=update My hangers are from Belltech. The holes didn't line up perfectly, but not as bad as...

Anyone used Western Chassis lowering kits?

Please take another shot so we can see the entire hanger. Are you sure those hanger are made to fit a C30? What did you use on your frame? Looks nice. And tough.

Let's see your GM squarebody stickers!

Does the decal go on the inside or outside?

    Warped drums

Yeah, no fun at all. And when I re-learn the tricks, I don't do another one for years, so have to start all over again.

    Small cap for dist?

Yes, but the concept is the same.

    Warped drums

A guy on one of the truck forums (maybe this one) had a similar problem that he traced to a brand new, but sticky wheel cylinder. And I recently had an issue with one side locking up prematurely and getting a LOT hotter than the other side. Swapped the drums from side to side and the problem...

Priming oil until it comes out of rockers 5.7 1992 engine

For whatever reason, I have found that rotating the crank 180 degrees at a time will eventually get oil to all the rocker arms. Maybe it isn't the rotation, but simply the fact that I keep on turning the pump. ???

    Front shock bolt torque

And after torquing to spec, you may very well be the first person to ever use a torque wrench on a shock fastener.:D

    Small cap for dist?

What is your distributor model number? That cap you listed is for 96-97 Vortec engines, not for an MSD distributor. Call MSD to see if they offer anything. BTW, wire routing without a gimmick cap doesn't have to be messy as long as your #2 and #3 wires are long enough.

    Battery disconnect switch...what gauge wire?

I don't like the idea of adding 6 ft of cable, regardless of gauge, between battery and starter. It also means two more connections and a pair of switch contacts to add resistance to the circuit, or downright fail. Especially if it's Chinese-made.:( If you do add a switch, I'd first talk to...

    Wolverine Cam Question

"Closes at 64". That's pretty much in line with other 266 cams from the 80s-90s. If you google Blue Racer, you'll find they had a decent reputation back then. Fast ramps like the newer stuff? No. Easy on the valve train and lobes? Yes. Reminds me of the GM factory cams and other 80s-90s...

    Wolverine Cam Question

Yes, looks like a good cam for low-mid range torque. It's probably happy with 8.0-9.0 compression ratio. Be sure to read up on breaking in a flat tappet cam.

    Warped drums

A problem with turning drums is the arc changes, so the shoes no longer conform to the drum ID. Back in the day, mechanics would "arc in" the shoes to match the brake drum arc, but now days they just replace the drums with new ones, or at least they should. I've always had good luck with...

    Trailer hitch with factory bumper

Which bolt-in trailer hitches will work with the bumper in the photo below? Looking to rent a 5x8 U-Haul trailer when we move to a new house this fall. Truck is a C10 with base suspension (3+1 leafs), and I don't have any idea how much weight it can tow. All comments and pictures welcomed!

So, the 350 was rebuilt, huh ?????

Would be interesting to see the roller cam specs and find out what kind of valve springs they are using.

    unjunking the quadrajunk

Yeah, the AFB was a great carb. A loooong time ago I had one on a fairly hot 292 (283 +/.060") that was original equipment on a 300hp/327. That was probably one of the best carbs I ever had. Good thing, too, because I knew very little about carbs back then.:D

So, the 350 was rebuilt, huh ?????

Who's the supplier of the blueprinted and balanced Vortec crate roller long block? If he's running a mechanical fuel pump, make sure the block is machined for one.

    Strange brake dragging problem

Having worked with cars and electronic equipment for longer than I care to admit, I can say they have a lot in common when it comes to troubleshooting.

    unjunking the quadrajunk

I apologize for the "bad mechanic" comment, but stand by what I said about Holleys and Q-jets. Guys like Jon at The Carburetor Shop would say it's difficult to make the universal carbs perform as well as Carter, Holley, or Rochester carbs built for a specific engine and transmission combo. For...

    live and learn AGAIN (Brakes)

Have a post here somewhere about my left rear brakes dragging and prematurely locking up. And like what you saw, IR temp was SIGNIFICANTLY higher on that drum. Swapped drums from side to side, and the problem followed the drum. I have a new Raybestos drum on order, but if the problem returns...
