    90 Suburban ECM Fuse Popping

The 10A ECMB fuse supplies power to the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump oil pressure switch and both sections of the ECM on the 440 ORN circuit. From the fuse block the 440 ORN lead transits the firewall at the main bulkhead connector. In the engine compartment it splits into 4 branch lines that...

    85 C10 Fan help

Maintaining proper clearances between the fan blades and the shroud is critical to the efficiency of the cooling system. That includes how far the fan blades are set into the shroud.

    Distributor pull and replace questions

The oil pump drive shaft isn't part of the timing equation - its just along for the ride. The only reason I mentioned it is because it sucks when you take the time to get your cam and distributor gears all lined up in the proper relation - and then you go to stab but you cannot get the...

    wiper switch and stalk

The 8.55 refers to the cost of the item. For the Dimmer pivot/WSW switch try 7840274. That one is used with standard 2-speed wipers.

    wiper switch and stalk

Whether tilt or not isn't a factor. That has more to do with the gear shift lever. I think you want P/N 22510143. The parts list : Here is one (NOS) for $30 - good price...

    Trucks with factory Blue

This is the factory paint on my truck. If it is close to what you are trying to identify, I will go down to the garages and find the SPID. Unfortunately, those who know me also know that I am color blind:

    Gauge light replacement

Yeah. Remove the H/L switch from the dash - yours will look like the one shown below. First, reach under the dash and - while depressing the shaft retaining button - remove the switch rod and knob. The switch will be secured to the steel dash with a round nut like this: Problem is...

Ac/heat high speed fan not working

When operating the blower on the LO/MED1/MED2 settings, power to it is supplied from the fuse labeled HTR AC which is located in the normal fuse block under the dash. It gets to the blower via the resistor stack However, when the HI setting is selected, the power to the blower motor windings is...

    Distributor pull and replace questions

    1. Don't over-analyze the process of stabbing your distributor. It goes like this: Just temporarily install the cap. Then using a Sharpie, make a mark on the distributor showing the relative location of the cap's #1 post to the body/base (that simply refers to the part that the cap clips to)...

What would cause the gas gauge to peg past full?

Just as a general discussion on the gauge/sender/chassis relationship - and also to make sure I have the theory of operation straight in my mind; The components mentioned above - when connected by the pink (hot) and blue (ground) wires - form the "sensing leg" of the gas gauge located in the...

    Gauge light replacement

Before you tear into the instrument cluster, check the rheostat that varies the intensity of the dash lighting (as well as the heater control panel and radio backlighting). The rheostat is integral to the headlight switch. First look at the heater control panel light (just 1 lamp) and the...

    Electric issues

Prior to replacing the headlights, did this condition exist? If not, look to the new headlights as the cause. As a first step, try taking the headlights out of the equation. Just unplug them and see if the system stabilizes. You didn't mention whether you have the base set-up just two...

    heater box

All the hoses mentioned below have a black stripe. The DARK Blue hose goes to the HEAT side of the actuator (shown above by the yellow arrow): and the TAN hose goes to the AC side: BLACK hose goes to the DEFROST actuator: ORANGE goes to a tee. One side of the tee goes to the OUTSIDE...

    heater box

All control assemblies (and the associated vacuum select valve) used in the C/K & R/V 1,2 & 3 series were the same from 85 - 91. I'm not sure what you mean by a "double actuator"? Do you mean an actuator with tubing connected to both sides of the diaphragm? There is only one like that -...

    Won’t start

Just a guess: Make sure the battery is fully charged. If the water was that high, it could have reached the positive battery cable where it connects to the solenoid. That could've created a short to ground which would drain the battery. The starter might be shorted internally as well.

    Electrical with no clue

If - as part of your diagnostic procedure - you have already tried a new battery ground cable, you can disregard this post. Sounds like you've been concentrating only on the hot (positive) side of the system - and you have confirmed power is available everywhere. But for the various circuits...

Also no gauge lights or dome or turn signal or hazards. Not enough information to really offer any help. You'll have to get your meter out and do a little probing around. 1. On the gauge lights, with the parking lights on, turn the H/L rheostat all the way up and check for voltage available...

82 c10 No park ,turn ,inside lights and no start in P

    1. My issue are I have no park light on front or fenders. I figured if rear parking lights are working the front should also? Yes correct, they are both fed by the same lead from the headlight switch. On the cab side of the bulkhead connector, the lead to the rear lighting is spliced to the...

Need Help With 82 C10 A/C Vacuum Lines.

Nah - that orange lead is meant to be connected to the HI speed terminal of the blower control switch. That terminal is a siamese type with two tabs. When the mode control lever is in the MAX AC position, a pair of contacts within the selector switch close. Full battery voltage is then...

Need Help With 82 C10 A/C Vacuum Lines.

Not exactly sure what the "boot" is. But if by that you mean the connector on the end of the vacuum harness, I suppose it would be possible to attach each hose directly to the nipples on the control valve. Keep in mind that the OP was regarding the control valve for a 1982 system. Yours may...
