    Power lock killing battery, help?

I had the same issue that is described - and illustrated - in the link referenced above. Only difference was my problem was with the PW's. This phantom view shows the layout and routing of the PW/PL harness. Item 15 is the PL relay: But if I could offer a suggestion, you might want to...

    Evaporator core repair kits

Yeah, all it does is allow you to crop off the bottom (inlet) tube and tack on that "repair kit" I think the expansion tube gets stuck in the OEM tubing and people frequently trash the line when they attempt to yank it out.

Help needed with finding block wiring diagram and wiring diagrams for 1984 Chevy Silverado with 305

One (2 leads) is dedicated for the ECM. The other (a single dark GRN) drives the temperature indicator on the instrument panel.

    steering column wiring

Your "new" tilt column was pulled from a 1984 or earlier truck. Prior to 1985 that switch assembly had two sets of contacts. One set (connected to the DK BLU & LT GRN leads) was used to activate the B/U lights. There was another set of contacts (connected to a YEL & PPL pair of leads) that...

Fuel pump and other wiring issues

There should be sufficient fuel in the tanks. Ah, you failed to mention that the truck is equipped with dual gas tanks. Not that it matters at this stage, but that is the type of info you should share when asking for help. When I sucked on the 5/8" line, no fuel came out, and there was no...

Air blowing out dash vents even when defrost or heat is selected?

Check the condition of this part. It's called the "diverter Valve link connector". It breaks frequently- and when it does, the link is unable to move the diverter valve into the fully closed position. Result is undesired airflow up to the dash vents.

Fuel pump and other wiring issues

If the new engine uses a carburated fuel system - with a mechanical fuel pump - the wiring required to make it run is really simple. But before you get into the wiring, you need to confirm an adequate fuel supply into and out of the carburetor along with a proper spark. Do it like this: 1...

    Color wiring diagram

The first thing I would check is the condition of teeth on both the ring gear and pinion - but mainly the ring gear. Over the years, some of the teeth on the ring gear may have gotten banged up. This can cause the pinion gear to stay engaged with the RG - even if the solenoid plunger return...

    Back to intermittent wipers..

There is no relay in the 1979 wiper motor circuit. There is a "washer relay coil" in the washer pump circuit. Actually it would better be described as a solenoid - but regardless, it has no effect on wiper motor operation. I should not have posted that diagnostic procedure without deleting the...

FWIW, here is how the switch is supposed to work (from the 79 Service Manual): And the procedure for checking the switch:

    86 c10 with a 305 5L v8

When you say "but now it barely cranks over", does that mean it was cranking normally and then it suddenly began cranking slowly? Anyway, the starter motor electrical circuitry is fairly straight forward. It consists of: 1. The battery 2. Two battery cables; one runs from the battery's...

    Heater Core Replacement- Need part

Hey - great minds think alike. I renewed the seal on the end of the defrost/floor heat valve as well. I used foam insulation and bonded it to the valve damper with adhesive cement. I can't remember why that little gap bothered me enough to go through the hassle. That was 10 years ago and it is...

    Heater Core Replacement- Need part

Maybe the metal adjusting link is still in the air handler - down at the bottom of the plenum. Like this: There are a couple of ways to access that area. You can reach in through the riser for the dash vents (and into the door) or up through the floor heat diffuser. I looked around for...

    Power Steering Gear Leak

Never mind everything below- I thought you were talking about the Pitman shaft seals. The Pitman shaft uses two seals. One is a single lip type (inner) and the other is a double lip type (outer). The seals are sold as part of a kit. The kits are readily available from a number of vendors. You...

    What to do...

I am planning on at least changing my battery cables Look closely at the entire run of the positive cable. A short to ground in that circuit will knock you right down and then frequently "fix" itself - for a while anyway. I should also mention I had an issue a while back where I got stuck at...

    79 250 2nd temp sensor

The one that threads into the cylinder head is the sender that drives the gauge. The other one - that goes into the t-stat housing - is a metal temperature switch (don't ask me what it does - I have no idea). The gauge sender shows as P/N 8993164. But that style of terminal is getting harder...

    Many Issues, Little Experience

6.2 diesel = LL4 RPO, correct? also forgot, Battery cables :| they are beyond bad. Replacing these would be a prudent place to start. As far as electronics, there really isn't much to go on. Possible to be more specific? The issue with the cluster lighting is most likely just due to the fact...

Converting a TBI coil to a cylindrical coil

GM points style coils are not designed to run full time on 12 volts - like HEI distributors. The pre HEI ignition systems used a special wire (PNK/BLK) with an intrinsic resistance to power the coil. That built in resistance (about 1.35 ohms for a V8 engine) reduces the voltage – supplied from...

Cleaning rust/scale out of radiator, OUT of truck...?

Here's the cleaning process I use. It goes something like this: I have used CLR and Bar Keepers Friend (the BKF needs to be mixed with hot water to get it into solution) to clean radiators several times with no ill effects. I started doing this because the radiators were original - OEM with...
