Yeah you have to look for non-detergent oil. I was sold on the 15-40 after I bought my work vehicle, 2004 Blazer with a 4.3 V6. It had 110k on it as a government vehicle. I recently pulled my smog 305 out of my 81. I had the "computer" already disabled with a jumper when I was figuring out issues on the 305. What have you done to your square lately??
I sand blasted the backside of 2 stock rally rims off my 81. They cleaned up pretty nice. Got them in primer now and I’ll rattle can them back to close to Argent Silver once I get the fronts done. I’m trying Krylon silver metallic. I need new rubber on all 4 so I figured this was a good time... -

1981 C10, 6.0 LQ4 swap with Manual Trans Exhaust Question
Ok so on the passenger side, using the stock manifolds. you can get flanges from summit. I used those. One ear on the passenger side you need to shave down to about half the thickness around the bolt hole or it will hit the frame. with 2-1/2" exhaust I was able to use one of the amazon kits...- Drauka99

Lets see, Got all 4 shocks replaced. Got a guy to come out and remove vats from the LS ecu and figured out a few things I messed up on (reversed the fuel lines on the stock truck fuel pressure regulator) and had to wire up a neutral safety switch. I have one coolant leak and one oil leak to... -

Im not sure what flavor yet, t56, tko, nv3500, that for when the 833 cant handle the toques anymore (that could be quickly or a while, its a guess) Pretty set on 3.73 or 3.55 for the rear gear in the future though. Truck will be a road cruiser so i don't need much, just want usable gears. -

yeah this one is a manual, MY6\A833 I knew 4th gear (overdrive) had NO power. Now I see why. With the 305 I swear it was 40-45mph in first. Hit second till about 50 and hit third at 60-65. If you bumped it down into 4th you had do downshift with any incline whatsoever (and this is Florida... -

I got the clutch adjusted, so i should be able to take the truck for a spin once the ECU has been flashed. I tidied up some wires and got them in wire loom. Finally took a wire wheel to the rear axle to get the code. I knew the truck was high geared by how it drove but dang 2.56 is higher... -

Got the last of the electronics buttoned up on the LS swap. The OBD2 port and the pedal is all tied into the ECM. I'm just waiting on a guy to come by and flash the ECU disabling the anti theft and switching it from automatic trans to old school manual. I'm looking forward to this thing... -

Got the radiator and fan shroud mounted and hoses hooked up. Changed out the negative battery cable for a longer one that had several branches that gave me connections for the engine, frame and chassis grounds. Dropped in a cold air intake and modified the shroud for it to make it fit a bit... -

New Process A833 4speed w/ OD MY6 MM7
the knob "casing" itself is cracked off and the button is split in half (with the OD portion gone) I'll probably just replace it with a new knob with the correct 1-4 pattern and give up the OD for 4th. Thanks for the info.- Drauka99

fuel tank swap from newer silverado to 81 C10?
I doubt it will fit. 87 C-10 fuel tank for the LS swap. Get an 87 sending unit to keep the fuel gauge, will need to step up to a larger fuel pump than the 87 used for the LS. I've pulled my fair share of fuel tanks over the years and the C-10 fuel tank bracketry is different from any I have...- Drauka99
