Nice! What do you have planned for a fuel pump and system?

    Engine spinning backward when killed?

Is there some kind of load behind your engine that bumps it backwards when it comes to a stop? Asking cause this is a common occurrence with a carbureted jet boat that has it's ignition cut while hot and above idle. Likely, your miss (high idle also contributing) is putting unburnt fuel into...

    High Amp Alternator

If the original is doing the job, I would stick with that size. Do you think the existing wiring in your truck can handle over double the load? That would be my concern. My F550 has an OE 240A alternator in it, but it is also wired to handle it.

New Clutch and issues with topend

With key on/engine off, does your gauge stay at zero? It should and if not then it could be a failed/damaged sending unit or possibly even the wire to it being pinched in the bellhousing. An exhaust gasket leak can also give the sound of a top end tick. Was the engine pulled to replace the clutch?

Where does the engine smoothness come from?

Their cylinders have to make 2 rotations to fire so actually every 120 deg. A v8 is every 90.

    Adjusting your headlights

I do mine at night on a remote road. Travel a bit to make sure the vehicle is straight and adjust the high beams exactly where I want them (covering one at a time) for the best distance. Never been a problem for others as the low beams drop out of oncoming traffic's eyes.

    Vinyl Floor Recommendations?

Well, that's actually somewhat the plan for this truck. Can't seem to bring myself to spending 30k+ on a side by side and still have to trailer it to our destination. We won't necessarily be in mud up to the rockers, but am running all the vents for everything high as there will be some...

    Vinyl Floor Recommendations?

Thanks guys. Did you use a roll on bed liner or any type of insulation under them? Thinking for helping to seal the floor from possibility of trapped moisture as much as insulation qualities.

    Vinyl Floor Recommendations?

Curious if anyone can recommend a good place to find a molded "full cab" floor covering? Have found options for carpet but would prefer to go with the rubber. Have seen pics in older modification threads, but no mention of where they got them. The mat in the truck now is in decent shape, but...

    Another brake thread.

You should confirm that the break pedal itself is fully returning to the top of its stroke if you haven't. If something has been modified with it or possibly even the wrong length pushrod installed, the master cylinder will not function as it should.

    CUCV Torque Slip (TH400)

I think I am going to give the current 6.2 T/C a try for now. I do have a governor kit and vacuum modulator on it's way though. The more I look into it, and don't doubt what has been said about holding the 5.7's rpm's down with the lower stall, this engine is only temporary. My reasoning is, I...

    CUCV Torque Slip (TH400)

Thanks @Frankenchevy. We don't have any speed or transmission shops anymore for that matter. Smaller town in the north. Not a big enough market to compete with the reman industry. Will have to reach out a ways. Switching to a manual trans is also not an avenue that will work for me in this...

    CUCV Torque Slip (TH400)

Your truck looks great and thanks for sharing. My original plan was 37/38's to help control rpm's on the highway, but am worried about tearing up the fenders when things start flexing in the trails. I am planning on a 6" lift at the moment and don't really want to go any higher with the...

    CUCV Torque Slip (TH400)

This is great! Thanks. Pretty much what I need to hear. I by no means give disregard to what everyone has offered. I appreciate it all. This is a bit out of my wheelhouse and am hoping to nail it off the get go. I am not looking for street performance with this truck and have no interest of...

    CUCV Torque Slip (TH400)

I am open to trying a different t/c if there will be gains up in the higher rpms. There is nothing really go fast in this motor. It is just a marine built vortec with a mild cam. The truck is light with really low gearing. With no slip at 1:1, it would be 24-2600 on the highway. I am just...

    CUCV Torque Slip (TH400)

In the process of repowering a new to me '86 CUCV. It originally had the 6.2 (diesel) with it's current 4.56 axels. I am going to install a 5.7 and it is my understanding that the torque converters are different between the two. Lower stall speed with the diesel? Was looking at going with larger...

What's the best way to drain the gas tank?

They actually work really good. I have over 20 5 gal containers I grabbed from a car wash that their detergents come in. 2 will nest perfectly in the large rubbermaid totes. The totes give them extra containment for safety and allow them to be stacked real nice. We use them for extra fuel on...

Welcome from the north. What model Isuzu are you using? Have done a lot of work with the 4HK1 and 6HK1's in tracked equipment. They are strong, reliable and efficient engines. The 4HKI sure likes to shake when idling though, only being a 4 cylinder.

Interesting. Hopefully this turns out to be a best case scenario and you don't have to tear into it too deep. I get the small town thing as we live in one ourselves.
