6.2 For A Daily Driver? What Are The Downsides?

I will say one thing working on a suburban is fixing rust is not as easy as cab and box. Lots of little things that rust out and there is no replacement parts. Especially in the back end stuff. That one your looking at doesn't look bad in the front, doors look good and the running boards may...

    Door Speaker Depth Clearance

@Doppleganger Went and got a better shot. I guess my tape was on the outer skin already on my first measurement. I barely can get my arm in there so got buddy to hold the tape for me while taking the picture. And there's maybe 4 inches below the motor on the door.

6.2 For A Daily Driver? What Are The Downsides?

The kicker on the 6.2 6.5 diesels is that they are kinda a dying bread. Going to be tougher and tougher to get parts for. Say on your trip or any trip a part fails sometimes could be a bugger to get. Now if you built-up the motor with good parts then I wouldn't worry. Not much can go wrong...

    Door Speaker Depth Clearance

To outside of sheet metal would be 1 5/8s. I can double check here in a bit. And there's not alot of room under that motor maybe 3 inches. I dropped my tape down there at first lol. I can find that out aswell.

    Door Speaker Depth Clearance

It's about 1 3/8s to the indent on the door were the vent is there. So you would gain a quarter inch i would say to the very outside sheet metal.

    Door Speaker Depth Clearance

Have you cut or doors cut already? I didn't want to cut mine so I was able to put in some good quality 3.5s in the door panels. It works good in the back aswell and you delete the ashtray. I don't have a picture of the fronts with the covers on cause I couldn't find them at the time.

Adding a headrest to a bench seat

So I got a buddy that drives with his head on the head rest the whole time. Then goes and put on sun glasses. I never noticed at first until we started going on longer trips. First time I thought he was napping. Scared the shot out me. I am interested in putting head rest in my seats aswell...

    Metal prep for frame

I just used the por15 metal prep on my frame. Yet to paint it though. It seemed to do its job. You can see were the zinc coating is. It has turned a goldy color. I don't plan on using the por 15 paint. That stuff is hard as a rock I find.

    Question about harness

Some sort of cb or radio antenna attachment. Were does the other end of the wire go? With the wire having that black casing around it I don't think its original.

6.2 For A Daily Driver? What Are The Downsides?

Don't be afraid of electrical issues. Everything can be solved very easily with relays or a simple wiring diagram. Does it run and good is the biggest thing.

6.2 For A Daily Driver? What Are The Downsides?

I will agree with what everyone has said. The 6.2 6.5 have there corks, but are very dependent and reliable if you want to put to time, money, and drive them respectfully. Not power houses by no means and I think that's why the 6.2 6.5 get there bad name cause people tried to make them fast...

6.2 For A Daily Driver? What Are The Downsides?

I haven't see one posted for sale in a year at least. 1000 bucks for a 6.2 unknown kms was last one I've seen. @Thesiger if you can find one I would do it. Keep the boost under 15 psi and don't over work it and there great motors. Easy to work on aswell. That Willomet guy on utube has/had on...

6.2 For A Daily Driver? What Are The Downsides?

Easy to add a turbo to a 6.2. Just find a 6.5 with a busted crank and take all the turbo stuff and put it on. If a good 6.2 or 6.5 came up for sale in my area I wouldn't think twice on putting it in my suburban. I like them. Gutless wonders but you can make them alot better with some simple mods.

    Suburban from Italy

Hello everyone, I am writing to you from Italy because I bought a 1976 custom deluxe suburban used by the firefighters converted by Rosenbauer and I want to restore it to its best. The vehicle is a K20 with a sm465 manual gearbox, has a tow hook weight of 3500 kg, free front hubs, the...

1991 gmc suburban stock shock question

I run the factory quads up front. Budget was tight for bilstiens and got 7 shocks for price of 2 bilstiens. The front of the truck feels nice and the back is a little spongy. I went with the middle of the pack shocks. No fancy names. I do plan on going with a single down the road I'm thinking...

    front end alignment

I take a piece tape and put it on the center of the tire and make a mark in the center of the tape. Then measure front then rotate tire to back and measure again. When rotation of tire back and forth also measure the distance up so your level. Toe in a quarter inch.

1996 Grand Cherokee transmission rebuild & on to other stuff

Thats not a horrible price. To rebuild a 700r4 is 1700 to 2500 bucks. A 4L80E is 4200 bucks plus. Buddy and I bought a dodge Dakota with a bad transmission on the spot thinking it would be easy to find a used one. Yeah good luck and was 2300 bucks for a rebuild. 46re I think it was.

    Power steering with Headers

Using the factory bracket. We use to use a socket to make up the difference between it and the header flange and a longer bolt.
