    Carb at high alt

Like Rustisbest said, it will depend on if it is a 1405 or 1406, but probably at least 3 stages lean. At 2000 you should already be at 1 stage lean, so maybe plan on making a rod change once you get up in the mountains. Try to figure out which rods you will need to change to without having to do...

    2.5" or 4" Lift 1986 K10

You may need to do a little trimming on the bottom rear of the front fenders, if you lower it. The front wheels will rub and rip the chrome off, when you turn. I would leave it like that, it looks perfect. 1-1/2" isnt much of a difference.

    Power steering too slow?

Hydro bind?? On my hydro system, the rpms have to be higher than idle to get the wheels to turn easily. I assume this is hydro bind. It seems like a larger diameter pulley would make the pump turn faster at idle and prevent this. I just have not found a larger pulley for my serpentine belt...

Yes, I clicked on the image. It doesn't get much bigger on my PC. Oh well, I guess I can't help.

    Front bumper opinion on position

Hard to tell anything, the pictures are so small. Show a good, full size picture of the whole truck.

    Power Steering Woes

There is a few different reservoirs for different configurations of accessories. You probably need a different reservoir with a cap on that set up. If it has hydro assist brakes it needs one with two return ports. Some look the same but have the returns pointing the wrong way, some are a little...

    Starter Interference

Maybe you have the wrong starter bolts. There is two different sizes. Some blocks take metric bolts and some take standard bolts. They have to be the knurled ones that are the right ones for that block. Most likely the newer blocks take the metric ones.

I would say near the radiator cap on the hold down.

    Rim compatibility

Measure the back space on the wheels that are on there now and decide from there. You might as well buy a full set of the 16s now, ditch the 16.5s all the way.

How would you make this truck less ugly??

It looks pretty cool as a "beater". If it runs good and you like the look then drive the wheels off of it!! You may want to start fixing the rust so it doesnt get worse.

How would you make this truck less ugly??

All or none!! Either fix it or leave it alone.Maybe weld in a patch panel or two over the fender wells and pull out that dent in front fender and put a light back in it. Touch them up with a rattle can of grey primer. hook a chain onto the bumper and pull it out to close to straight and make...

    AC Troubleshooting 1976 GMC C15

Make sure to use 8 ounces of PAG 150 oil for that compressor. Not the lighter oils. Check the orifice tube for debris.

    New to the forum Everybody

Welcome. The fuel pump outlet points right at the frame. Fortunately the hose that is on my 84 GMC small block is original and it is molded to fit. I dont know if you can buy one new that is already molded. On my 85 Chevy big block , I just had to make a big loop to get it all hooked up. You...

    Rim compatibility

I have at least 3 sets of the 16.5 rims that I am not sure what to do with. I don't think you will find any new rims in this size. There is still a couple of tires available for them. I had to change to 16s.

Odd “knocking” noise at high RPM while WOT

Set it at 8 or 10 initial and you should be good. Try each one and see how it feels and sounds. No need for an advance "total" timing light.

R12 to 134. Whats really needed to do this swap for a great working system. All parts needed?

My truck is an '85. I am unsure if it came as R12 or R134, from the factory. (It must have been R12, because I had to put the adapter valves) I put on a serpentine belt system from an '88 ish truck and bought a new R4 compressor for a '92 (because that is what I got the hose assembly off of) and...

What Sending units oil and water temp needed for guage cluster to work like factory in k10 454 swap I will buying all the components new thank you

Any parts store will have them, or can get them. You have oil pressure, and temperature sensors. Look up the sensors for a small block and then look up for a big block and compare them to see if they will interchange, or are the same and get the ones that fit the block and have the correct wire...

    3 on the tree

3 on the tree is different, especially with a high HP big block. We used to use 3 speeds in our dirt track cars, but we didnt shift. Started out in high gear and stayed there. They held up pretty good for a while, probably only maybe 400 HP max. If you are building a hot rod street truck, put an...

    400hp small block with th700

A 400 HP 350 is more of a high RPM race motor. A 305 is the opposite of that. The only thing that they have in common is they each will make your truck move under its own power. I am unclear on what you are trying to find out. I think you are referring to a 700 r4 transmission.

New to pickups & fifth wheels

I love my squares, ( and "hate" EFI & computer controlled) but they are limited. A big fifth wheel trailer will take a big diesel, modernish truck. Or just get a smaller trailer. They aren't designed, engineered or built for more than about 9-10,000 lbs of load. (see Keiths table above). Its not...
