‘83 K5/4WD/4” lift/SBC350/NP208/700R4 automatic: When I bought this K5 the trans/TC crossmember was mounted as shown in the photos. It had body bushings for spacers in between the NP208 adapter and transmission crossmember. It also had what looks like eyelets cut off of shocks as spacers to...
If I were to use the chains and leveler to attach to the engine instead of the carb/manifold plate are there bolt holes that I can use that would still eliminate the need to remove the distributor and it not get damaged?
This post is now here in the proper automatic transmission category. I’ll try to delete it from the manual transmission category.
1983 K5/ SBC350/4wd: I’m installing a new 700R4 trans and I’m in need new transmission lines. I’ve read several previous posts with different opinions on which types...
I’m prepping to install a new complete turn key GM crate SP350 (385HP/405TQ) engine into my ‘83 K5 that I have (almost) finished with the multi-year restoration on and would like to get y’all’s final recommendations on the engine install plan/idea before I get started. Things to note: I am doing...
Oh man, I’m sorry I didn’t see this conversation earlier. I once had an oil filter that would not come off with any tool that I had, to use on my ‘68 Olds Cutlass/Olds 350 and there wasn’t enough clearance to use a screwdriver long enough to get enough leverage on. I found this tool and it is...
Thanks for the replies! I let my pressure washer run out of gas the last time I used it 3 weeks ago and the jet was still plugged up. So, EFI/TBI injectors have the same problem with ethanol fuel, is what you’re saying? Are people that are running aftermarket EFI/TBI having to use injector...
I’m always struggling with carb jets getting clogged with ethanol fuel residue whether it be on my carb C10 or my pressure washer, etc after they have been sitting for a matter of weeks. Just a month ago, I cleaned the jet in my pressure washer and had to do it again yesterday. The jet was...
I just bought this SprayMax two part (paint and hardener) 2K satin spray paint to try on my vent window frames, steering columns and other misc parts. I haven’t tried it yet. Got it from Amazon but Eastwood sells a similar product.
Welcome to this great forum! I’m considering moving from TX to NE TN but also considering between Crossville and Knoxville. Going to look at real estate at the end of May.
What is PWM and when converting to LED’s shouldn’t relays be used, if so, which relays or is there a relay kit for converting the entire vehicle to LED’s? Please provide specific details, thanks!
Hi all! I just wanted to get some recommendations on how you went about prepping, sanding and painting the steering column. I’ve already painted the bare dash with the 2K body color but had the column was masked off. The column has some light corrosion which will have to be sanded. I suppose I...
Could someone please provide the brand and part numbers of a good quality oil pressure sending unit and mechanical gauge for my ‘83 K5 with the new GM SBC SP350 crate (385hp/405 torque) that I’ll soon be installing? Summit Racing lists several brands and with varying pressure ranges and I’m not...
‘83 K5 restoration: I’d like to hear what you all have done with the bed-sides as far as what rugged hard material (wood, metal, other) did you use and if and how you incorporated any compartments (hidden, hatches, locks, molle) inside the panels for storage of things (guns, tools, speakers...
If no different, then the K20 Corp 10 bolt/8 lug/ 3/4 ton has the same 8.5” ring gear as my K5 Corp 10 bolt/6 lug 1/2 ton 8.5” ring gear??? Why is it better, or is it? Can I run bigger wheels, more torque, more aggressive wheeling etc with the K20 front axle?
What size ring gear does a Corp 10/8 lug front axle have? How is it better than my K5 Corp 10/ 6 lug for performance, Torque, bigger wheels, off-roading, etc?
I going to look at a ‘83 K20 for sale in the morning. The person selling it says it has 3/4 ton axles but the front axle is a Corporate 10 bolt/ factory 8 lug which he says is a 3/4 ton axle but he doesn’t know the ring gear size. My ‘83 K5 has a Corporate 10 bolt/6 lug axle technically...
Hi guys and girls! I have to share this very freakish injury I had with you all as a safety precaution and not make stupid mistakes like I did. I’m in the final stages of completing the multi-year restoration of my ‘83 K5 Blazer. I’m slow, okay and in more ways than one as you will read but I...
I’m going back together with my ‘83 K5 with 4” suspension lift after restoration and I cannot locate the match marks that I made on the driveshafts (both front and rear) and yokes when I removed the driveshafts to replace the U-joints. What should I do? Thanks!
‘83 K5: I’m in the final stages of the major restoration and am prepping for new SBC crate 350 engine install. I purchased new motor mounts and inserts but I don’t remember what the orientation was of the old worn out mounts before I pulled them off. A few questions for y’all! How are the...
I agree which is why I don’t install aftermarket EFI systems, among other reasons. There is not as much R&D spent on aftermarket systems as OEM and aftermarket systems aren’t user friendly to tune the “thousands of parameters”, as you say.
If I’m understanding the discussion correctly, the EFI system shut the engine down because of an AFR condition in cold weather due to a T-stat that had the very small thread in it preventing it from closing. This doesn’t make sense. I don’t run EFI on my squarebody’s and am not very technically...
