Damaged wires on firewall about 2 inches from fuse box

Once that block is unbolted and cleaned up, it pretty easy to de pin and replace the spades and wiring. The spades are “special”. I believe this is them 25 Packard 56 Series Male 16-14 Gauge Terminals GM 2971962 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A8X363M/

Melted wires everywhere… need some help

The power for the highest fan speed is direct from the junction in the firewall. No fuse. If shorted. **** melts.

Melted wires everywhere… need some help

From what I see the the melted wires are blower motor/relay/resistor block. All 3 of these items are available and cheap.

    1985 K20 350 Lost Spark While Driving

I read his quote a few times also and deciphered it as the cap and rotor contacts.

Should be HEI if stock. Coil is integrated into the cap.

    gear ratio swap options

I know for 12 bolts, they make R&P sets that will allow you to put any ratio on either of the carriers. Basically 2 options for the ring gear. Thick for 1 carrier and Thin for the other. Same price too IIRC. I can only assume they do that for 14b also?

    Wire identification

The orange circle (green wires) is the AC compressor clutch. The damper inside the cab are actuated via vacuum. The source is the engine(duh) then it goes to a Tee. One leg goes inside the cab via a small hard plastic(usually) line that enters the firewall through a grommet right between the...

    1985 K20 350 Lost Spark While Driving

HEI are normally pretty darn dependable. Did you look at the button that connects the coil to the rotor and the rubber insulator that it sits on? The ignition module sits in the base of the dizzy under the rotor. Little 1/4 round module with 2 two pin connectors on it. I’ve had them go flaky...

    1983 K5

Thanks. I kept the factory Almond and added the Corvette Torch Red (got a smoking deal on a gallon). I was worried it wouldn’t look right but it turned out nice and I’ve never seen one like it.

    Sub box cub. ft. Question

Since you’re adding 4 subs, I’m assuming K5 or Suburban. If K5, and assuming you remove the top, I’d highly recommend going ported. Sealed boxes almost require the vehicle to have all 6 walls to help you feel the bass. Once you remove the top, open the windows, and 80 mph, bass goes “out the...

    Power Window Relay Conversion

I made some diagrams, have all the parts to make my own relay upgrade, but after replacing the regulators, motors, and switches the windows close is less than 4 seconds, so I didn’t bother with the relays (yet). The power feed to the doors is already heavy gauge and has a circuit breaker. The...

    1983 K5

Yup. Used an existing hole. With the column shift and tilt, it didn’t make for a good solid “hose clamp” install. I figured it would work until I get Dakota Digital RTX. Plus being a 4L60e, I have it programmed to shift exactly how I want and never needed to watch the tach once it was tuned.

What have you done to your square lately??

I always hoped my son would take after me, hands on, perfectly happy with a wrench in my hand. I remember when he was little and changed the first inner tube on his bicycle. It took an hour but he got it done. The brake job on his FJ Cruiser. I did one side he watched. He did the other, I...

What have you done to your square lately??

So, what’s the trick? Getting your son to have an actual job that is. My 19yo is going to UT and says he just doesn’t have time for a regular job. He’s been tinkering with Uber Eats and some kinda Ad posting bs. Hell, Target right down the road from me pays like $24/hr.

    Name this part

I’ve been calling it orange box too. I wonder if the harness for it is an add on or is it part of the main harness. It appears most vehicle specific, stuff is separate. K5 rear dome light plugs into the front of the fuse block. 4wd shifter light plugs in the front. Maybe when I install...

    Name this part

Originally it did. I know on the gas motors it was vacuum actuated. All that’s been removed. Is this part of that for the 6.2?

What have you done to your square lately??

Wife and kids love mine. SoftTopper, vintage air, bangin system. It doubles as a family hauler, road trip vehicle. This was last 4th of July down in Port A.

    Name this part

The orange box. Just says Delco on it. The truck is a 1983 K5 Blazer. It originally was a 6.2/700r4. I was thinking Throttle Position switch or something for the glow plugs, etc. something diesel specific. The brown box next to it is the chime module I added.

What have you done to your square lately??

I believe the ding started with the TBI (87?) I bought several modules from PicknPull. They’re like $2 each. The F body ones sound the best. Pull the module and the plug for it. To the left of the steering column. 2 screws holding the connector in place I think.

What have you done to your square lately??

Depends on the year of your Square. My buddies 89 was a simple plug in. My 83 had a black box buzzer (seatbelt reminder). I removed it and used some of those terminals for power, ground, ignition, and added a wire from the lamps terminal in the fuse block. I mounted it near by and ran the...

This was the day I limped her home from Dallas to Helotes back in 2016. Had to stop at Bucees for fuel….and coolant, and brake fluid, and ATF, and power steering fluid.

    1983 K5

Hello Everyone. I’m finally getting around to posting after a few years of reading and searching for info. This is my 1983 K5 Blazer. She was originally an Almond/White 6.2 from Florida. I found her used and abused in Abilene, and snatched her up in Dallas back in 2016. She’s had my heart...
