So, yes comp says their special gear is required or a melonized one per engine shop. Easiest to replace distributor for tbi...?

Ugh, My 454, TBI distributor is a .427 shaft, I need a .491 or .500 to order a distributor melonized gear for comp hydraulic roller(11-412-8). They don't make one for the .427 Replace the distributor and coil? I am having a hard time finding one. Recommendations pretty please #gmbellew #catbox

    04 Suburban oil pan, whew

So, interesting update. Had a couple start-up growls. She uses the usual quart between changes. At about 5k+, since seafoam, and using 1/4 quart of rislone (added another 1/4 when I added oil) I did oil change. Oil filter was pretty heavy, looked like quite a bit of gunk. Start-up and oil...

What direction would you suggest to get the CR in this build (I started a build page). The owner of machine shop I talked to does mostly 383's? He suggested the domed pistons which was the direction I was headed. He didn't seem thrilled about the PP, lol.

Thanks for the input! All but one rocker a touch loose on passenger side. Just one on drivers. I did look at the umbrella seals and 2-3 cracked, one has chunk gone... It is obvious the valve cover gaskets were replaced, but that wouldn't tell me if heads off. Plus passenger side had front...

Checking back through threads, what are the Stellite seats so I know. I couldn't find anything on the net. I am also fixing to start a build page. We have had the engine out and ready to take to a machine shop I believe I am comfortable with. What is a stellite seat? Stellite is a patented...

    04 Suburban oil pan, whew

That is a good read. Similar solution, seafoam for clean out which you may have seen results, and been running the oil change with the Rislone. Quiet now. I use high milage stp synthetic and get their extended life filters (10,000) and change every 5-6k. Been doing awhile, but I know the PO...

Just an update for those curious. Burb hasn't growled at start-up for awhile. I think after that seafoam clean-up, and been using Rislone since oil change has slowly helped lifters. Just fyi. Oil pressure still a concern to me, but it is what it is. Running pretty smooth engine wise...

    AC control vacuum lines

It's four, zoom in. I think either the low or high didn't work. Looks like we can order that switch, if that is the problem.

    AC control vacuum lines

Ok, looking for this tiny vacuum line. Not local or with LMC? It was brittle where it went through firewall. I can slways splice if I can get more line. 87, pickup, R20

Well, it's not good. Have some lifter noise when start up, briefly. Thought about thicker viscosity, but if it's harder to get into hydraulic lifters then that's not really helping make sure top end is lubricated. Just worry about lifter collapsing or bending, throwing a rob. Silly really...

Yes, what I did was replace the pickup o-ring after seafoam clean up. That was my bandaide.

    04 Suburban oil pan, whew

Well, no. Upon start she gets that 38 to 40 PSI but once warmed up to temperature I'm back down to 20 psi at idle so she's just worn out unless I want to mess with oil pump. Opinions?

help me find this ticking noise on my truck ( 1978 Chevy C10 305 )

I insulted someone on this forum because I thought a stethoscope was funny...I didn't realize there was such a thing as a mechanics stethoscope. I have one now, and have used it to isolate noise and fixed. :)
