    Right fuel tank?

Hey there, my 1979 k15 high Sierra is in need of a new fuel tank! Just wanted to ask some wiser minds here before I pull the trigger. Found a tank and sending unit on rockauto, seem really reasonable on price, can’t think of any reason they wouldn’t fit, but never purchased either before and...

    Break in procedure

did get it on the road, was running it off a gas can (tank is nasty) and hood isn’t on yet. I’m itching to drive it though! Only drove it once and that was limping it on the trailer when I bought it.

    Break in procedure

Well fellas I did it! With the help of my old man we just got her broke in! Struggled to start, it was really cold here today, but we got it going and it ran like a top. Headers had been glowing so we advanced the timing and fattened up the fuel mix. All y’all’s advice and input here was...

    Break in procedure

Yes, we have a light hooked up, I guess it’s just a matter of adjusting that AND fuel mix. So fatten it up a bit on the mix and slo the timing down. Gonna give it it another shot tomorrow!

    Break in procedure

so tried breaking mine in this evening, first had to shut it down because it overheated, believe there was an air pocket, removed tstat and got it running again, but headers were glowing red hot and blue flames out the back (I don’t have it running through mufflers yet I don’t have them) so I...

Comprehensive intake and new engine hookups

Sorry, for clarification, it’s an edelbrock with manual choke. Older one, rebuilt. Not the original one, but a very basic 4 barrel. I had a Rochester quadrajet but it was no good. Also a new intake, edelbrock, the basic $149 one for sbc.

Comprehensive intake and new engine hookups

Been looking around for some info and all y’all fine folks have been so dang helpful in my quest to revive my 79 k15, I don’t feel as bad being such a noob and asking “dumb” question, as much as I’ve been told there is no such thing! So, freshly rebuilt engine has been bolted in place, intake is...

    Oil filter adapter?

Running into a slight problem, ordering this oil filter adapter/mount and it’s saying it’s not for 4x4, but I can’t find one specifically for a 4x4. I’ll admit that I cant remember how it was when I took it out, I had removed the filter only and then pulled motor and sent it off, it came back...

    Break in procedure

Finishing putting together my newly rebuild 350 for my ‘79 K15. Hopefully installing it this weekend. Noob question but it’s better to ask than to not! Proper break in process? I’m talking from first start. I know to prime the oil pump etc, but as far as breaking in the cam etc, what’s the...

Alright good to know! Thanks guys, my coworker got this made in a couple minutes. Thank you!

Lifting engine in place with carb studs?

Sounds fishy I know. Getting ready to drop my newly rebuild 350 into my truck, want to put the intake on before hand. Old man says “take a plate of steel and weld a couple hooks to it, bolt it where your carb goes and use the hoist to attach there!” He claims this will also keep stuff out of the...

Help putting my engine back together

Hey all, just got my rebuilt 350 back, and am going to start putting it all back together. First project of this type, excited to get into it! I’ve done a good bit of research and feel confident to reattach all the components (it is currently only the block with heads on it, lacking intake, oil...

All this is such great info thank you guys!

    Cab swap?

Wanting to get a new cab for my 79 k15, mines a bit rusty. Problem is, all I can find used around me are 81-87 cabs. Would that have significant issues with swapping? Thanks! also mine is 4 speed floor shifter so I’m planning on having to make that mod unless I can find a manual trans cab.

Block hugger headers for 455 Olds in GMC truck...??

I tried fitting side huggers from summit on the 350 in my ‘79 k15 and they didn’t work, hitting on the drivers side and rubbing on passenger.

    First square body!

Picked up a ‘79 GMC k15 High Sierra, one owner farm truck with a sm465 3 speed with a granny gear. Needs some love, original 350 is being rebuilt and should be here Monday. Always wanted one and found my dream truck.
