What have you done to your square lately??
Finished replacing the left side cab mount, rocker, floor pan and cab corner this weekend (ongoing over the past few weeks) some filler and primer left to do and rehang the fender and hood. -
Inner fenders
Probably been discussed a million times, but who’s inner fenders fit the best for the money? 79 C10 Thanks- Scotty D

What is this bolt and hole for?
My 79 has the hole (that I always figured was for a light) mine does not have the support pin in the center of the firewall -
Taillights/Tag lights out
There’s a good chance that there was some corrosion on a terminal that when you unplugged and plugged back the connector back in it made a better connection- most of these trucks have been in all kinds of weather conditions- and you never know if the P.O. had a trailer with bad lights...- Scotty D

Deformable LED Garage lights anyone?
I’ve been replacing my 4 footers with 4 ft LED’s from Sam’s club - really makes a difference. My son just got some 8ft ‘v’ strip lights but I haven’t been over to see if he has them up yet, they are supposed to ‘fan out’ the light more the the regular led’s -
Wheel/Ride Height change?
I’m trying to figure out the same thing, my rear springs are shot - so I’m looking for options too. Mine has the Big 10 package but I really don’t want to go back to the stiffer springs -
Unknown engine noise help
When my chain went, it started that morning on the way to work, went out for lunch and when I went to start it up is where it went boom! Literally, with a backfire and that was it, pulled it apart to find a toothless gear and the front cover ground up from the chain beating on it.- Scotty D

How old is the timing chain? Hopefully it’s not the chain rattling against the front cover, unfortunately I had that happen, wasn’t pretty.- Scotty D

Door panel repair
Looks great, my door panels are bleached out and brittle, and I figured I’d have to pull out a bunch of $$ for new panels and a dash pad. Now I’ve got some ideas to salvage mine. -

Pulled the left door and fender off to start replacing front cab mount, floor pan and rocker. Right side is done last winter, glad I did that one first- now I know what not to do! -
Turn signal question
Hazard lights and turn signals are on 2 different circuits, so if the lights work correctly when the 4 ways are on, you know your bulbs are good. it may be in the turn signal switch in the column - but it does seem like a ground issue in the dash or cab to ground somewhere- Scotty D

Thanks everyone, I am still trying to decide about lower or not lower, the rear springs are both bad due to rust between the spring eye and the rubber bushings.- Scotty D

Thanks for letting me join! I’m in the process of fixing up my 79 Big 10, the first vehicle I bought brand new. It’s been parked since 2003 when the cab mounts rusted out. The plan is make it mechanically safe and sound and go the ‘patina’ route and enjoy my old friend again without worrying...- Scotty D
