    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

With the 700r4, 3.73 gearing, and 35" tires, I calculated 16-18 on the freeway, averaging 70mph. Before the carb tune, it was right around 7-10 mpg. I haven't been doing much in town driving, but my guess is, it will improve dramatically also. I'm baffled by the difference in the MPGs and...

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Ever since finishing the EDDY 1406 re-build, I noticed I had an off idle hesitation. So I started experimenting with the accelerator pump, tried all three settings, and it still had the hesitation. Then I experimented with different step up springs for the last week or so. My hesitation went...

    700r4 surging

I had a similar problem with my 90, I thought I was the transmission also. It turned out to be if I remeber correctly, a temp sensor on the intake. Was causing the ecm to go crazy,

    Please help!

I had the same pull to the right, a while back. I replaced everything, calipers, master cylinder, drums, and pads. Nothing that I did helped the pulling to the right. Come to find out, it was my power steering pump. I replaced it with a new one, and no more pulling to the right or left. Don't...

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

I'm running an edelbrock performer, I believe there's a port right behind the carb. just gotta get a fitting for it.

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Rich, I tee'd off the manifold port, plugged in my vaccum advance to it, capped off the ported vaccum port on the carb. It runs great, smoother idle, better response etc. But now I lost torque converter lock-up. I put it back how it was, and I have lock-up again. I don't see why it would do...

    Newbie needs your help

Check your gearing, there are some 1 ton axles that have 4.56 gears. I believe the CUCV have that ratio.

    HEI Distributer question

Thanks for the replies guys, Im gonna go ahead and order one of those suckers. They seem to be pretty stout at 65,000 volts, and better looking. The online reviews arent bad either.

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Wow, that I didnt know about. I always thought vaccum advance required ported vaccum. I have my vaccum solenoid for my lockup on the manifold vac side of the carb. Can i put a T fitting on there, and run both?

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Just want to give a big Thank you to Rich and everyone who helped me out, and Georgeb for the panic attack. But like they say, "what doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger". Here some before and after pics. After re-jetting, cleaning and rebuild, my truck runs and drives extremely...

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

I rebuilt my carb, re-jetted to 95 primaries, 92 secondary, I left the original 7547 metering rods in, used the orange step-up springs, added a 1" phenolic spacer, and it passed emissions with no problems. No more running rich at all. Crisp throttle response, and took it for a 120 mile drive...

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

My kit came with a new accelerator pump, the spring looks a lot beefier. I also got 2 sets of needles and seats, the regular ones and the off-road spring loaded ones. Has anybody installed the off-road kit? and if so, what are the pros and cons with installing them, instead of the regular ones?

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Finally got into the carb, after seeing what was in there, I'm surprised it ran at all. The discoloration of the floats, I'm guessing, is from boiling fuel?

    Wider Profile / Stance 84 k10

There's a chance they won't, with normal driving, depending on what brand lift you have. They will definitely catch the fenders on the turns, if you do any offroading.

    Wider Profile / Stance 84 k10

For a wider stance, go with a 15x12 or 15x14 wheel. If you do go with a wider wheel, its a good idea to upgrade your front lug bolts to 9/16" or 1/2". Trust me when I say to upgrade your bolts, and ask me how I know. you'll need at least a 6" lift to clear the 35's with a wider wheel, That or...

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

So it's 92 primaries, and 95 secondaries?. According to edelbrock, the 7547 rods I have, are the largest size they come in.

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Hey Rich, I just got my kit this morning, earlier than expected. I just put the 92 jets in the primaries, will it still be ok with the elevation here in Arizona?

Well Sir, that makes alot of sense. I'm gonna do what you recommended. Thanks Rich.

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

I see the reasoning in that, when you say to put the 92 primary and leave the 95 secondary jets where they are. But what the reasoning behind the factory 98 primary and 95 secondary. I'm trying to figure out why the primaries are larger than the secondary from the factory.

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Yeah, I'm waiting for the rebuild kit to get here on Monday to pull off the carb. I went and bought a set of 92 jets for the secondaries, gonna put the 95s in the primary. I did however pull the metering rods out, the number on them is 7547. I can't make out the spring color, to know which one I...

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

Well, I was worried I had a Crack, turns out them bolt holes go all the way through the top half of the carb. I got in there and took a pic, man what a relief. I'm guessing the gasket is is toast.

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

From the looks of it, it has a couple of leaks. The pump, and I still cant figure out where that other gummed up area right under the pump is coming from. Do all Edelbrocks get this dirty with normal use? ATTACH]

    Edelbrock 1406 failed emissions

I'm gonna do a rebuild on it, I've been wanting to go in and change the jets for the longest now, gonna go with 95 primaries and 92 secondary, hope it does the trick Its been 4 years since I put that carb on, from what I've read online, it looks to be time to freshen it up. Has anybody ever had...
