    Need halp

I had a Dodge Journey yesterday that wouldn't recognize the key. It wouldn't come out of gear eather. I Just loaded it on bed backwards towed to dealership and slide it off bed and rolled truck out from under it. I use my wreckmaster skates a lot for stuck in gear cars. Another easy way is to...

Tow Trucks, Wreckers and Car Hauler Discussion

Sounds like you guys have been staying busy towing to. I bought my first medium duty finally, and wonder why I hadn't bought one years ago. I got a 96 international 4900 with a Vulcan 892. Kinda sucks that it's a 444 engine but does have the 7 speed. One of the local tow companies had it and...

    reman 4 speed

I've thought about just getting a kit and going through one of them I have around, but I have so much going on anymore it may take me a month to get to it. I have a engine that has been setting on stand 2 years now I was going to freshen up for a spare for wrecker. Sometimes it's easier to just...

    reman 4 speed

I got the old 1988 V3500 wrecker back other day from shop after having rear end rebuilt and all new springs and 2 tows later the transmission locks up. I've got a couple used transmissions, But wondering if there was a place that sold remans that was worthwhile. My trans is totally toast, 3-4...

    Reverse lights stay on

My m1028 reverse lights stay on all the time. I just shut off the service lights. Need to replace the reverse light switch, but since I never drive it, it's not high on list of things to do.

    anti theft ignition lock

I always thought a hidden ignition/fuel cutout was the best route to prevent theft. Even if they broke column and got it to crank, it still wouldn't start. I can't remember last time I took keys out of one of my trucks, just flip a hidden switch and leave them. Of course most are parked behind a...

    Help on swapping out 4.3

I didn't realize it was a k series not a c series. I swaped the 4.3 out in a 86 c20 4 speed once and had heck of a time because I didn't realize all the lower mounts were different. 3rd try setting it it fit like a glove tho

    Heater core problems.

I have used a few 4 season ones. they fit decent. It is less than a hr job if the bolts stay in housing when removing nuts on outside of firewall. Ac heater core is not much different to change than a non ac on, just have to hunt alittle harder for the nuts on engine side of firewall.

    6.2 tweeks

6.2 are funny creatures. One runs sweet, next is a dog. Had one in a buggy that would flat out scream, it took a dump and second one never did run right. Changed over to original pump, played with trimming , ect... Running a non turbo 6.5 in it now, really runs good for a stock engine. I drive a...

    TH350C Removal Method

I wouldn't attempt it without a trans jack. To hard to get lined back up without the angle and to narrow of a top on a regular floor jack to stabilize transmission on

Most Wanted List from Salvage Yards

I'm working with a guy in texas that is a old friend trying to get some stuff bought. I need 3 or 4 nice cabs and front clips to rework some of my wreckers and few other trucks. I have doors and hoods just no good beds, cabs, or fenders. I have several decent core supports, about a dozen 454's...

    couple trucks and other stuff

I'm still around here. I stay pretty busy anymore towing. Those 454 vortecs are a hard find. I got lucky when I bought a 98 K3500 that needed on, local contractor had a wrecked on I had towed in and they made a deal on the truck to me. I still have the 78 k20 4 speed truck, a 86 k20 crew cab...

    Should I swap to a 6.2?

I have a M1028a2 with the 6.2. It has the 4:56 gears and all. If I drive it sensible around town I can get 15-16mpg. No towing or load just running around cruising. I bought a M1009 I was going build a daily driver out of because of the mpg claims. We started driving late 80's early 90's 350 tbi...
