    Do you have a volt meter or test light? If so, check and make sure you have 12 volts at the coil positive wire when the key is in the "on" position. I think it is the red or pink wire at the dizzy.

    Under those circumstances, I don't blame you. Your right, it would be way more expensive to have the 700r4 rebuilt.

    I don't know how much truth is to it, but my tranny man said that the 92 was one of the best years for the 700r4. He was probably just pulling my chain.

    I think the zero mark on the balancer will line up with the zero mark on the timing cover tab. Looks like that balancer is made for a cover that has only a pointer. Either way it will work. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pfs-80000/overview/ Here is a little more info on the balancer.

    Not sure why you want to get rid of the 700 r4. But yes, there will probably be an issue with the speed ometer. There may be some aftermarket parts to correct the problem, not sure.

    What do you mean "blown"?? Have you taken the cover off? It might be just as cheap to repair the one that's in it rather than having to replace both front and rear. But, if you've ever considered a gear ratio change, now would be the time.

    Usually "black sooting" is caused by the contact between the metal tang on the center of the rotor and the carbon plunger in the center of the cap that connects to the coil via the coil spring.     The crush sleve takes about 250 to 300 ft. lbs. of torque to crush. After it is crushed, there should be a certain amount of torque (20 in/lbs for new bearings and a little less for used bearings) it takes to turn the yoke with just the pinion shaft installed.

    It's probably going to be the ignition module. It's located in the dist. remove cap and rotor. There are 2 screws that hold it in. It has a plug on each end of it. The new one will come with a small tube of thermo-compound to be applied to the bottom of the new module.

    You shouldn't need to take column apart to repair the switch. It's mounted on top of the column under the dash. Remove cover under column and disconnect the gear selector indicator. Remove the two bolts that hold the column up. Lower the column to access the hi/low beam headlight switch.

    I've actually seen a couple of FI put gas into the oil. A person should see a lot of black smoke with a flooding carb or FI. A properly tuned engine with a carb lacks some technology but should perform very satisfactory.
