More quadrajet help please! Won’t run

Have you checked the timing? Have the plug wires been off? If I remember right, #1 and #8 are easy to mix up.

Quadrajet help please. What’s this adjustment!?

You won't like this but I ran it in untill you could tell it was too lean then opened it up till it took the throttle good and ran good. The plugs had always been black since I bought the truck now they look real good. Its similar to idle mixture except at partial throttle.

Quadrajet help please. What’s this adjustment!?

That is your mid range jet. Most say don't adjust it. I drilled and tapped my carb body and slotted a screw diver to fit it. Got it adjusted through trial and error then put a hex plug in it to seal the carb. Oh well, I'm a little slow typing. Glad you figured it out.

    SAE or synthetic

I ran one oil change of synthetic in mine and it promptly burned a 1/2 quart. Went back to regular 15w-40 diesel oil and all was happy again. I've run 15w-40 for several years now.

    windshield washer pump

Success!!!! So the washer as well as all wiper functions go through that POS delay module. I had a hunch as mine has been acting up for a while. It would wipe three times when I start the truck sometimes and then the washer pump quit getting 12v. I will try to post pics but basically there is a...

    windshield washer pump

1985 C10. My washer pump died today. Pump motors not getting 12v. It works on the bench. Checked fuses and wiring. I didn't see a fuse for the pump. The wipers work fine, even the intermittent speeds. What am I missing or has the multi-function switch died? Any easy way to check? many thanks ahead

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

There is wood in the floor under the fiberglass, wood in the hull bottom and the transom will have wood inside it also. I would check it for soft spots which, if there, will involve removing the fiberglass, replacing the wood and re-glassing it. I've done it. Its a hard stinky itchy job.

What is the best oil to run in 1984 C10 with high-milage stock 305?

Any 15w-40 store brand or what ever for a diesel should do just fine. Have run it for years in my truck and my '59 Ford with no problems.

Curious issue with wipers / AC

I have the same gremlin, but mine does it sometimes when I start the truck. Haven't figured it out yet.

Where does this hose hook up to?

Do you have air conditioning? Might be the condensate drain hose

Engine stumbles when you hit brakes even with vacuum for booster disconnected...

The brake light switch should be under the dash on the back of the brake pedal lever

Engine stumbles when you hit brakes even with vacuum for booster disconnected...

Just a hunch, but take your connector off the brake light switch and see if it does it. You have cruise control in one of your pics and it turns it off with the brake light switch if I'm not mistaken.

    Fouling issues

I'd put a fresh set of plain copper AC Delco R45TS in it and run it for a 100-200 miles and post us pics then. They are the recommended heat range. I have had good luck with Accel plugs also.

I bought one of the Standard Auto ones as a spare and it didn't last a week. I'd buy the AC Delco if I had to do over.

Wiper motor has no programmed stop/start position

Before you spend money, clean the top connection on the wiper motor. That's the one that tells the wipers they are parked. I lubed the inside of the wiper transmission while I was there and the symptoms went away.

    Occasionally wiper start.

I have the same options you do. Mine started the wipe crap when you start the truck. I disconnected the top plug on the wiper motor under the hood (its the one that tells the wipers they are parked) and cleaned the contacts. That ended the phantom wiping.
