    Spreadbore Holley Carburetor ?

They exist! Not for $125 though!

    fitech install om 77 c10

But does that still cause the problem, now that you've fixed the timing? I bet that if you got a cheap electric pump and installed it lower than the tank or about level with the bottom, that problem would disappear..

Man.. Both of those items are half again the price of the Fuel Commander..

    fitech install om 77 c10

Well, that would definitely make it run bad!

What I'm thinking, is if the fuel sender is still in that 88 donor truck's tank, I'm thinking that it is a FI pump as well... If so, I can grab that and then use it to make a surge tank/fuel commander.. Just a matter of fabbing up a 1G tank for it, adding fittings and maybe even a couple...

    fitech install om 77 c10

How big does the tank need to be to have an adequate supply of fuel? Could one that holds 1/4 to 1/2 gallon be big enough?

    fitech install om 77 c10

Cool.. This could save me yet another couple hundred bucks or more...

Quick internet search, says there's all kinds of ways to do this... Saw one where somebody modified a small nitrous tank.. another guy used a remote oil filter for it... Added bonus is the built in filter.. :) Does the FiTech unit come with a built in pressure regulator, or is that part of...

I wonder if a fuel commander can be 'made' on the cheap from a donor FI pump from a late model GM and a surge tank? Wonder if such a tank already exists?

    Testing sending units

Well, if I have to drop the tank to test it, might as well replace it while it's out.. Looks like the one on my donor 2nd tank is bad (not yet installed) .. Reading all over the place in with my fluke meter.. from 3-30 MegaOhm... With my cheap analog meter, shows open... There is some fuel in...

    Testing sending units

Is there a way to test if the sending unit in a tank is working, without emptying and dropping the tank? Do they normally fail open reading?? Will measuring the resistance of the sender wire to ground tell me if the sending unit is good or not, even with an unknown amount of gas in the tank...

    Spreadbore Holley Carburetor ?

I was always under the impression that tuning those injectors was like trying to tune a three two barrel set up.. Needed special airflow meters and all that... But maybe not... And didn't they require expensive crank driven pumps?

    fitech install om 77 c10

The extra 4 or 5 mpg and auto jetting when driving up and down the mountain are enough for me to want it.. not to mention the nice reliable, easy start ups when it's 10 degrees out.. ;)

    Spreadbore Holley Carburetor ?

That's what they people making them call them, not me... Hilborn fakes.. But if you go and look at both crower and hilborns, they are neither... But the stacks themselves do look far more like the crowers... The manifold looks like neither.. I just always loved the crower injectors...

    Spreadbore Holley Carburetor ?

Looking at these, they're actually kind of hybrid hilborn/crower... The manifold part comes straight up like a hilborn, but it's a single manifold like the crower.. Well, actually it's an empty box, but who's counting... lol

    fitech install om 77 c10

That's one of the reasons I 'love' the Fuel Commander concept! Just unplug the in and the out, couple them together, slap on the carb, hook up the fuel line, the linkage, and go home... As soon as I go with an in the tank (or on the rail) Hi Pressure FI pump, I lose that ability to do a...

    Spreadbore Holley Carburetor ?

But then you have to deal with the tuning, the astronomical cost, and build an engine that breathes enough to need them... I want the look, not the hassle... Just a stock small block with a few bolt ons, in a lightweight rat rod will 'fly' as it is.. lol But they want a lot for them, so I'd...

    fitech install om 77 c10

I plan to take the existing distributor, coil, plug wires, and holly carb off of mine, add a mech fuel pump, and electric fuel pump, some hose, clamps, wire, butt/ring splices, etc. and put them in a box to keep in the truck so that when I'm way off in the stix and one of these electronic...

    Spreadbore Holley Carburetor ?

If you want to make a carburetor look really sexy, add this... When (if, hopefully) I build my rat rod, I plan to use TBI on a relatively stock engine (might put just enough cam to give it a hint of a lope) and hide it with something like this... Get the mileage/reliability of a stocker and...

    fitech install om 77 c10

Is that with the mechanical pump? I wonder if just adding a 12v universal fuel pump before the mech pump would solve the problem?
  22. R8rPhan

    fitech install om 77 c10

Those in tank pumps require that you keep them submerged in gas or they overheat and go bad (happened in my 2001 GM van twice).. So if you run the gas low you're gonna have even bigger problems... But I'm not really understanding what that has to do with the command center... I've gotten...

    Why is that?

    Spreadbore Holley Carburetor ?

I've had similar holleys on a couple vehicles... They're a lot easier to work on than the quadrajet... Sexier too.. ;)
