    Should I go bigger u-joints

With that setup I would surely use 1410 joints front and rear.

Oil pressure sender switch and coolant sender what type of thread sealant to use since your not supposed to use Teflon so it can ground correctly

I use a bit of PTFE paste but that is from decades of working with stainless steel. Use it sparingly and it will be ok.

    Gas cap

Try the link below to get you to some good information. First time pasting a link within the forum so I don’t know if it will work. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/charcoal-vapor-evap-canister-how-it-should-be-set-up-and-other-information.37324/

    Gas cap

Mine did the same when I bought it. I bought a vapor canister and installed it per information on this site. No more trouble with gas caps.

Best way to run power from truck battery to trailer winch. Quick disconnect ends.

I have an 8k Warn winch on my car trailer that is rarely used. When I do use it I don’t know what truck I will have so I do have a setup like you show with a good insulating sleeve over it. When I do use it, typically it is for a small tractor or a pickup truck with inflated tires so it is not a...

Fuel filler issue. This can’t be right.

Like most others, I run the pump slow for the best results. I have new hoses trimmed to fit best I could get them.

    Wiper differences

The wiring changed in '78 because the wiper motor park function changed from mechanical to electrical. My '73 had a mechanical park and built in washer pump. It now has an electric park function and built in washer pump. I have an '86 CUCV that has the same electric park and built in washer pump...

    Wiper differences

My memory isn’t what it used to be but I think the changes started when they introduced the intermittent wiper module in about ‘78. They also had to change the way the park feature on the wiper motor works as well.

    Wiper differences

It takes a different wiper motor which means the linkage will have to be modified if I remember right. I made a new link to fit mine in. You will also have to get the later switch and if I remember right you will need a delay module that goes under the dash or make up a harness to bypass it...

    '73 Square needs a bed

Sorry, that might be helpful. It is a long bed.

    '73 Square needs a bed

I guess the fuel filler would just take the correct hoses wouldn't they? Or is there more to it? What is different about the front mounting bolts? I don't think the tailgate would be an issue as I would have to get one anyway.

    '73 Square needs a bed

My '73 truck will no longer pass state safety inspection because the bed is too far gone. I could fix the outside panels, they are cosmetic. The big problem is the bed floor and supports are too far gone. At this point I think the best thing to do is find a good used bed. What is different about...

High Flow cats on a Blueprint 383

I imagine the cats should be as close to the headers as I can get them. The issue is the transmission and transfer case don’t leave much room. Would the casts be able to do their jobs if they are behind the transfer case? The cat inlets at 32” behind the flanges on the header collectors. I...

    In your opinion?

One of those came on my truck when I bought it. Holley says it’s a 670 CFM carb. They have been around for a long time. I still have it and will rebuild some time and use it on something.

High Flow cats on a Blueprint 383

I will do that as soon as I can start and run it again. My fan came apart and took out the water pump, radiator, a couple of pulleys, and belts. I am waiting for some parts to come in. Maybe by the weekend. Thanks for the help.

It is the 405 HP version. 9.5 compression.

High Flow cats on a Blueprint 383

The engine is the 405 HP version 383 and it came with the vacuum can hooked up to the ported vacuum on the carb. I called them about it and was told that is where it needs to be. Do you believe otherwise? Wouldn’t that advance the timing at idle? Maybe that is what it needs to idle proper?

High Flow cats on a Blueprint 383

I am working on the AFR when I can, mostly waiting for warmer weather. Right now I have 12.5 at idle, it won’t idle less than 1k in gear if I lean it much more. The cruise mixture is about 14 and wide open mix is about 12.5. When it warms up a bit more I will work on the tune again.

High Flow cats on a Blueprint 383

Thanks Rick. I do think that would be a big help, especially when starting and warming it up in the garage in cold weather. I do wonder if the converters can get plugged up or burned out from the engine running a bit rich? I also wonder how they might increase back pressure and cause power and...

High Flow cats on a Blueprint 383

I have a Blueprint 383 in my 73 K10. I have a dual exhaust on it with no cats. It likes to run rich at idle, about 12.5 to 1 and about 14 to 1 cruising. The fumes when idling are pretty bad. I am wondering if a pair of cats would help any with fumes and would they cause any problems?

Need to fix noisy ring and pinion.

Well I have the rear end figured out. I decided to buy a Yukon ring and pinion set and put them in to replace the Richmond gears. I set it up with a good pattern and now I am happy with it. There is no more gear noise from anywhere in the truck. Unfortunately I found out the hard way what a...

Need to fix noisy ring and pinion.

Thanks for the reply, I have heard that a time or two over the years. I have also heard a lot of shops use that excuse when they don't get it right. I have had people tell me it also depends how the gears are cut. The gears I have in the rear now are Richmond. If I buy a new set I will get Yukon.
