Money is definitely tight. But here is my plan. I have a good running '99 model 5.3 Silverado hit hard in the front end as my donor. The transmission was built 2 days before the wreck according to the last owner and it is clean and freshly painted so I believe it to be true. I will buy a 1987...- Gmcm78

Adding a turbo or another diesel swap is something i have considered. I bought a wrecked truck with 5.3 and new 4l60e in it already. I agree with what Totallyhucked said though. I'm a mechanic/fabricator by trade so I have the skills for the swap and am able to make all the bracketry I need. I guess my question should have been "is the truck any more valuable or rare because of the options?"- Gmcm78

Removing bed bolts
The last bed I removed, I cut a piece of 1/2 inch angle long enough to reach the heads of the 2 closest bolts. Then tacked it to the head of the bolts and that will hold those 2 bolts from spinning while loosening. Then just pull both bolts out and pop the tacks loose and reuse the angle on the...- Gmcm78

Best $6 I ever spent.
Does anyone sell a vinyl sewn slip on dash cover? It's seems like that would be a very desirable (and affordable) way to fix a bad dash. I've seen several when searching online but never a source for them. Maybe they are all custom -
6.2 Detroit into a 84 gasser
I found an awesome welded aluminum radiator on eBay that is a direct fit for 6.2 trucks. Around 170 bucks too. I was skeptical at first but so far very pleased with it- Gmcm78
