    TH350 Parts

Of the two planetary sets, both had scoring on their bushing surfaces. The other set (front is what I've seen them called) only had one gouge, but it was there. No worries. I actually sourced bearing versions of both, and also got the one-piece ring gear for the front set too. So at least I...

    TH350 Parts

Man that's awesome, and much appreciated. I think I've got a set of those bumper thingies up in the attic I've been meaning to pass along. So I'll definitely pay it forward. Box came today. Everything looks great! Good thing too... The front gear was scored too... And you should see the...

    TH350 Parts

Man, that's friggen perfect! I'll PM you so we can figure out the details. I'll hop over to eBay for the ring gear and see what I can find. Fortunately I checked the case last night and it seems ok. I couldn't find anything nasty. Output shaft was the same. So thank goodness for that!

    TH350 Parts

Man I tell you... in a situation like that you do what you gotta do. I'm not really sure how I'd react to a person like that. Sounds like he needs a good dose of rehab and a reason to live his life. I'm assuming he's got no family to speak of? No lady friends or anything to keep him in line? I...

    TH350 Parts

lol Thanks man. I do appreciate it a lot. Leave the drunk to his stupor and get out in the real world. You must be one hell of a nice guy to deal with that crap for so long. I don't think I would have had the patience or that attitude about it. I know cheap rent is cheap rent but... damn.

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Yeah, its the rear ring gear. I'm pretty sure it was the torrington that let go. I found lots of metal bits in that area when I pulled it all apart. This is probably why the trans had a HUGE amount of end play when I got it. So much so that the parking pawl would not engage because the carrier...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

So... Is this going to be a problem? I found a bunch of metal shavings around this area during disassembly. There do not appear to be any high spots around these score marks, but I gave it a quick buff with some 0000 steel wool. You can feel the scores, but no ridges. Still usable?

    TH350 Parts

Hey no prob. Do what you gotta do. Don't make a special trip just for me. Sounds like you've got your hands full with your... acquaintances... I am a little lost though. Is it your son, his buddy, or his buddy's friends that are handicapped? Cuz I'm getting this image of a handful of drunk...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Hey thanks for looking at that. Mine seems ok. I did some clean up on it and other than the black junk from the clutches it seems ok. Good to know on the holes too. Hopefully this will help someone else wondering about it. There was almost nothing on the subject on the net!

    TH350 Parts

Ok cool, either way is fine. crazy4offroad is looking into it too so I'll let you know if he comes up with anything. Thanks a bunch for the help. These were just those odd-ball parts you don't expect to need to replace!

    TH350 Parts

Hey thanks. I'm hoping to begin final assembly in another week or so, but I'm in no serious hurry. Thanks trans has been out for a couple months already so what's a few more weeks? Let me know what you find, and thanks!

Would you mind taking a look for me? They seem to want an arm and a leg for this stuff on the fleabay, so anything you can help with would be awesome. I've got a wanted ad up too for some other odds and ends if you think you might have anything.

Working on putting together the parts I need. I posted a "Wanted" post about the parts I'm looking for. If anyone has any of these parts stashed let me know. http://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/th350-parts.22331/

    TH350 Parts

Howdy folks. Looking for a few bits and pieces for my TH350 build. If any of you have anything let me know. Low/Reverse Spring cage (PO bent mine) Governor Cover and Bale (the wire that holds the cover on) Anti-clunk spring (bent mine) Parking pawl guide (the little metal bracket that centers...

    Coolant wtff?

Since it was old the cap might have stuck shut instead of venting excess pressure. If the new cap fixed it I bet that was it.

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

.040-.060 was what the Sessions book called for for a stock 4-clutch pack. Looking online, the widely available tech article put together by Jakeshoe (of Jake's Performance) calls for .010 per clutch and ultimately between .050 and .070. So it looks like you were right. Airing (sp?) on the...

    Help me identify a vibration

Ok, so today I bumped it up to 70 for the whole trip to work. Lots and lots of vroom vrooming. It's not a long commute (20 mins total). When I got here I stuck my hand down through the hole in the bed (PO cut a GIANT hole for a 5th wheel) and proceeded to burn the crap out of my hand on the...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Is it .05-.08 because of the fifth clutch? The Ron Sessions book said .04 to .06 max. And I'm pissed about the low planet. There's only one f/s on eBay and it's $45. Plus it looks like it's got holes in it too. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to work on transmissions... I wonder if that's...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

Quick update: Measured the clutch pack clearance in the directs. Using a dry (no seals either) piston and 4 new clutches and steels, I measured a clearance of .062". Since I'll be buying a pre-machined replacement piston off of eBay, I measured to see if any would work. Turns out one available...

Anybody used one of these intakes?

This was my thought. I realize that the giant rectangle ports are probably not the best match to the peanut heads, but between price, weight, etc it can only be better than the pancake iron monster the motor came with.

Anybody used one of these intakes?

Bugger. I meant bronze. My bad. It does not look like any kind of "damage" i.e. popping out, it just looks like it was formed that way. Weird huh? And only the water passage is bronze. The rest of the intake is aluminum like normal. The bronze water passage was designed to hold up to sea water...
