    Help me identify a vibration

Finally figured it out! At loooooong last!!!! I drove to work today in silence! NO VIBRATION!!!! It wasn't the wheels. It wasn't the tires. Even the driveshaft was found faultless. The engine was fine. The transmission is happy. After all that, it was the torque converter. And even...

    Cowl/Firewall/Floorboard rust

I did a similar process when I chased down a water leak in the cab. I kept getting water coming in up around the brake pedal and finally realized it was coming down between the two sheets of metal that make the firewall, then entering the cab through the brake pedal holes. I pulled the cowl...

    Cowl/Firewall/Floorboard rust

That is what i used to completely replace the floors on my Camaro. It's not the best welder in the world, but it will get the job done. Definitely practice first. Being a flux-core welder it makes a LOT of splatter/mess. Expect to do a lot of grinding. Like I say though, it gets the job done.

    Stock Dually Backspacing etc specs?

I posted up in a thread I've been running about an ongoing vibration issue, but since it seems related to tires/wheels I thought I would post here too. You seem to know your stuff Craig so any info would be helpful:

    Help me identify a vibration

Took the wheels off again yesterday (man does my back hurt...) and now I've got a question. On a dually, are both wheels meant to be hub-centric? Are they both meant to ride on the 1/2" (roughly) machined ridge on the hub? I ask because I noticed that while the OEM inner wheels fit over the...

    Help me identify a vibration

I thought I would come back and update this thread. I still have the vibration, but I've got some new info. 1. I've got a couple bent dooley rims. Of course its the "pretty" ones. 2. I lowered my air pressures with no change (was 60psi, now its 40psi) 3. I noticed when I had the wheels off to...

Should I replace the receiver drier?

So I started rebuilding my A/C about 3 years ago, but when I went to have a new compressor installed it ended up being seized. I never got back around to finishing the job. At the time I installed a new receiver drier and expansion valve thingie (the little plastic screen/stick that goes in the...

    86 front suspension

Okay now I've seen it all. Truly. I can die happy knowing that somebody is nuts enough to do that!

    Stock Dually Backspacing etc specs?

Oh wow, so it seems as though swapping to 17s is a much bigger project than I expected. Add to that the obvious cost of new tires all around and... well. Its a pain. So the same company that makes the above wheels makes them in 16" as well, with the exact same specs. Knowing that, it looks like...

73 C-10 eating fuel pumps alive. HELP!

lol my first thought was a crew dually doing autocross. Now THAT would be impressive!

Adding mufflers - need to adjust timing and dwell?

If this is just a farm truck I'd keep it simple/cheap. Grab a pair of cherry bombs from the local auto parts store. They won't hurt performance because they are a straight-through design, they don't take away too much clearance under the truck due to the tube design, and they are cheap cheap...

    Stock Dually Backspacing etc specs?

So I've been debating going to 17" wheels as I'm thinking tires will be more widely available for longer - or am I wrong in this? I'm looking at wheels with these specs: Front: 17x6.5, 115 offset, 124.5 bore (see pics below) Rear Inner: 2003 Dodge steel 17x6, 136 offset, 121mm bore Rear Outer...

    Stock Dually Backspacing etc specs?

Looks like I've got 3 bent rims, so I'm looking into new ones. Does anybody know the specs for the original dually wheels on my 86? Backspace/Offset/Etc? Currently I have the 16" wheels. That's all I know lol. Help is much appreciated.

    79 Trans am

If those rear window louvers still have their original clips/brackets they might be worth some money. Those wrap-around models are hard to come by with all their hardware. I've got a set in my attic I will NEVER get rid of lol.

WTB Roof Section - See pics

Oh wow. I've never seen the inside of a burb roof. It sure does start pretty far forward. I think thats about the mid point of the sunroof! Oh well, thanks for looking for me!

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

Man I like that truck. I wouldnt mind having a few of those goodies on mine either. I like that headache rack... And do the front spoilers really do anything for gas mileage?

WTB Roof Section - See pics

Actually, I think for this part of the roof a burb would work. Looking at pics online, it seems that the roof only really starts to get different past the front door. Unfortunately these trucks are actually pretty hard to come by down here. I saw ONE crew cab in the j/y a few years ago, and...

Convert crew cab to have rear A/C?

I did a little more research on this, and came upon a great post where someone was adding this rear-air system to a durango that did not originally come with it. Great info/pics. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen-durango/340124-diy-adding-overhead-a-c-w-pictures.html It appears that the...

WTB Roof Section - See pics

I'm looking for someone who can cut out a section of roof. I need it for a crew cab, but I would imagine I could make part of a single cab work. I need to fill this hole in my roof (sorry, this is the best pic I have on hand): I live in FL, so this would likely need to be shipped. We'd have...

Convert crew cab to have rear A/C?

So I've been working up to installing A/C back in my truck. It's a 1986 crew cab with factory air. I'm curious how the suburbans t-off the freon lines for the rear air unit. Does the unit always get coolant run through it if the compressor is running? Any pics of how this works? The reason I...

Dumb, no stupid things PO's have done to you

All I am going to say is... tan textured rock-like paint. Engine bay. Interior plastics. EVERYTHING. I will NEVER buy a can of that stuff. EVER.

    Tip for parts search

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and buy a few different part #s to get the right one. I ran into this trying to get the correct fuel filler hose for the crew dooley off of LMC. They say they do not support 1-tons, but as we all know parts are interchangeable between the 10/20/30 series. I...

I knew this trans was dead... TH350 Rebuild

I've driven the car a few times now. It chattered third a couple more times, but has not done it since. I'm thinking it may have still been breaking in. Funky, but it seems ok now. It is interesting however that auto shifts are almost entirely unnoticeable. Can't even tell the car shifted. Yet...
