    Ordering new Seats

A few photos showing what was delivered and a few before shots. Unfortunately I did have few issues with the new seats, mainly that the lower seat bun under the center console pulled away from its hinge - likely a shipping issue. I also have an issue with the brackets for bolting to the floor...

    Need help on cleaning cowl

Definitely redo your seam sealer at the bottom. Check out my thread here: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/apb-check-your-cowl-seam-seals.29801/ Oh the things you will find under that stuff!

    Ordering new Seats

Seats were delivered last week. I have not seen them yet as we are out of town. I was supposed to get home two days ago, but the fuel pump went out on the family burb 40 minutes into the trip home. Had to get towed back. It's fixed but now I have to wait a couple of days. I'll be posting lots...

APB - Check your cowl seam seals!

Honestly? I have heard and seen good things about the stuff. I wanted something that could create a final layer to prevent any/all water from even touching the seam sealer. Since I had already done this once before, and water got through the new sealer again, I wanted to ensure there was a...

APB - Check your cowl seam seals!

Sumbsih had better be sealed up now. POR-15 Metal Prep, POR-15 paint, 2 coats of seam sealer, and 2 coats of Flex Seal. Flex Seal is nifty stuff. Smells a bit like menthol, but it brushes on nice and self-levels like a dream.

    Water on floor

Since I am now revisiting this issue (see my other thread on it) I can say that the SEM seam sealer has held up VERY well. That stuff was impossible to remove to get to the rust underneath. I ended up having to leave most of it. I HIGHLY recommend the product if you can get it.

APB - Check your cowl seam seals!

Ha! So you found it! I'm glad to hear my troubles are helping out fellow square owners. I just finished up the fourth step in the process. So I have: 1. Removed as much of the original seam sealer and rust as possible using a screw driver (seriously) to chisel and scrape it all out, vacuuming...

APB - Check your cowl seam seals!

Only my square has this issue. I've never seen it on any other vehicle. My 80 Camaro uses a solid piece of metal there with no seams. That would make sense right? Keep in mind that area of these trucks was probably designed in the 1960s and held over ever since. Trucks in those days were...

APB - Check your cowl seam seals!

Fellow Square Owners: If you have the time I would recommend that you pull the cowl cover off your truck and inspect the bottom of the plenum. GM in their infinite wisdom chose to join the inner and outer firewall sheetmetal as a seam at the bottom of the cowl plenum - you know, the place where...

    Summit BBC Headers

Well I have not been driving much in the past month or so due to the Kung Flu, but I will say the headers and H-Pipe have been fine. No issues and they still look great and sound good. The mellower tone from the H-Pipe has really grown on me. It's much more refined. I'll see if I can grab some...

    Ordering new Seats

Yeah we decided to use some of our stimulus check lol. I'm in the process of ordering now. They are sold through a couple sites I think, but I'm going through shop4seats.com. They advertise a direct bolt-in with their adapter brackets. I'm interested to see if that ends up being true. We shall...

    Ordering new Seats

Well we decided to bite the bullet and order some new seats for the Dooley. A while back a guy on here posted his story about getting into a rear-end collision and not having a headrest and it got me to thinking. The old bench seat only goes about 3/4 of the way up my back - and that could be an...

    Power Steering remote reservoir hose???

Yeah I'd like to know too. My 86 has the same setup as GTME94's. I just discovered my reservoir hose is leaking at the pump and leaving piddle puddles. I can't seem to find a replacement. I took this pic to see if I could get a p/n off my hose but as you can see there's not much left of it.

Min Starters not all created equal

Well its not any larger than the old one I had. There were/are both the min gear-reduction type found on newer vehicles. I should probably put a heat shield on it to protect it from the headers I just installed, but I havent done that yet.

    80's Wiper technology sux

Sounds like you don't mind spending a few pennies on your truck :-) If so, then Detroit Speed is where you want to look. For a cool $575 you can get exactly what you are looking for...

Min Starters not all created equal

Yes, you will need different bolts. I got fortunate in that the old cheap starter actually came with bolts. The one I showed above did not. However, I noticed that Advance had the bolts as "recommended items" when I added the starter to my cart. So they have them. I don't remember how much...

Min Starters not all created equal

I thought I would post this here as an FYI to the group. I had put an eBay special gear-reduction starter on my 454 a couple years ago. The newer mini-model designed for mid-90s 5.7s. It was crazy noisy and it seemed like I could never shim it right. Well yesterday it started making this...

    V belts - good brand?

I prefer Gates, but I've used Dayco without issue. Gates green belts are supposed to be extra-heavy duty. I used one of those for the weird flat serpentine-style belt my truck used for the alternator/air pump. I just pulled the air pump and found a shorter belt. I've probably had it 6 years...

    Engine swap in '93 G20

I would imagine it's probably a lot like the RV application. Like bucket said, you may see differences in accessory brackets, dip stick, the intake manifold may be different, exhaust manifolds, etc. Your best bet is to take the existing motor and strip everything off of it. Once you get the new...

    Summit BBC Headers

Well I took last Thursday and Friday off to get the job done. I'm glad I did. It took the better part of both days get it done. The headers went in pretty easy. I did not have to drop the oversize oil filter or the (mini) starter. No bending tubes or anything either. I already had 45 deg header...
