    My other pride and joy.

Thank you for the kind words guys! I'm learning a lot about these cars too just like I am with the squarebody's! The ALDL is the assembly line date link right? Where exactly is it located? Bottom left of where exactly? This is new information too me so that's why I'm asking. Is it under...

    My other pride and joy.

No you don't, especially in my area. I bought a International sedan in WI last year for parts and I also have a 89 International coupe right now also for parts. Both cars are completely rotted underneath and are not safe to drive. Sedan got stripped and then scrapped and I plan to do the same...

    My other pride and joy.

New here to this awesome site, I've posted some pics of my 87 GMC High Sierra 4x4 project. I thought I'd post some pics of my next project when the truck project is finished. Found this car in Muskogee, OK when a CL deal for the truck project went bad. Guy never showed up for body parts that...

    Factory stripe kit.

Alright, thanks. I wasn't for sure and having a hard time finding any kits out there. I'll have to talk to the body shop or maybe auto graphics people to figure something out when the time comes.

    Factory stripe kit.

Is there a company out there that reproduces the factory stripes on the two tone trucks? I love the look and want to retain these stripes when it comes time to repaint my 87 GMC High Sierra 4x4 project. This is what I'm referring too. It's the red stripe at the top of the black painted...

New Guy Here My 1985 4 X 4 Chevy Scottsdale

Very cool! My buddy is helping me rebuild my 87 GMC 4x4 and is craving a short box. Are you finding that short boxes are harder to find?

86' my first square body, also I'm new here.

I just got some new tanks from USA1Industries are they are really good I think. I bought all OEM body panels since I didn't want to have any surprises. I like the color combo and considering it for my 87 GMC 4x4 restoration. I'm considering grey/black/grey and maroon/black/maroon too. I love...

    Turbo 350 to 700R4 question.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. No, I'm not shy about money. I paid $500 for the whole truck. The truck was complete except for the interior. It was missing the seat, dash pad, gauge bezel, and door panels. Wasn't too concerned about it since I'm using it for body parts and I'm...

    Turbo 350 to 700R4 question.

I guess I should intro the truck/history. I've had the truck for about 11 years now. Bought it locally. 87 GMC High Sierra 4X4 long box. White with red interior. 5.7 tbi with the turbo 350. Quad shock option, vinyl floor, factory A/C, manual window/locks, dual tanks, factory cruise, tilt...

    Turbo 350 to 700R4 question.

I bet that's it! You are AWESOME! Thanks so much. I knew that the front shaft moves in and out with axle travel but for some reason my is frozen, can't move it either way. I bet if I do take it apart it should bolt right in. I won't be able to work on it until the 2nd week of July for work...

Thanks so much for your help! I will update next week and let ya all know what happened.

    Turbo 350 to 700R4 question.

Before we tore the 87 apart, the drive shafts worked fine with the turbo 350. Using the same drive shafts, it looks a little short when using the drive train and 700R4 from the Burb. I think that I will try again next week and mount the drive shaft to the front diff first, then the other end...

    Turbo 350 to 700R4 question.

Ok, I know that it didn't have overdrive and the pan is different so maybe someone converted it to a turbo 350 before I got it. The drive shaft out of the 87 is longer than the one out of the 91 Suburban. I thought I could just use the drive shaft out of the Suburban since I'm using the motor...

    Turbo 350 to 700R4 question.

I'm sure it's been covered and I apologize it it's been covered but got a question about my tranny. Using the drivetrain out of my 91 Suburban 4X4, has the overdrive trans, guessing it's the 700R4 but not sure. My original truck is a 87 High Sierra 4X4. Both trucks have the 5.7 and same...

    Door question.

Sorry, been absent with life and stuff. Found a awesome door in Tuttle, OK. About a 8 hr drive for me but was totally worth it. Rust free door from a 85 Chevy truck. Found it on CL and paid $60 bucks for the complete door including the glass, wing glass, regulator and door panel. Had to pay...

    Quad front Shock hardware

Thanks guys. Nice to see the RPO code too, thanks Keith! I've had my truck for about 11 years and never had a issue with them but it does ride pretty stout up front.

    Quad front Shock hardware

Quad shocks. Seen this thread and was wondering how common is the quad shock option. My 87 1/2 ton has them. Is it more common on the HD trucks that the 1/2 tonners? Seems like the Suburbans and K5's had this option more that the trucks. My 91 parts Suburban also has them. What's the RPO code?

    Door question.

I need a driver's door for my 87 GMC. The door I found is from a 1977 truck. The door dimensions looks the same but was wondering if the door panel from my 87 would work on the 77. Both doors are manual window/locks which is what I need.

    Cab and bed mounts.

Thanks to everyone who helped out. I ended up cutting holes in the cab with a hole saw, shoved in a piece of flat steel to stop the nut from spinning. Thought about finding some body plugs to cover the holes but kept the metal in case I wanted to weld over the holes.

    Cab and bed mounts.

Thanks to everyone who helped out. I ended up using a hole saw to get access and then shoved a piece of flat steel to stop the nut from spinning. I kept the metal I cut to maybe weld back in but was thinking about using some sort of body plug to cover the hole. Anyone know if there are some...

    removing my cab

Yep, gotta cut holes. I recently did mine and I used a hole saw. I used a piece of flat thick steel to stop the washer from spinning so I could spin the bolt out. The two rear ones spun on me but the front ones came out nice and clean. Good luck.
