Any downside to modding the throttle body?

Sure. If you have ever used the "paper clip" method to pull trouble codes, this is also the way to close the IAC for re setting the throttle blades(Idle) By jumping diagnostic ports A and B with a paper clip, and turn the ignition to on for 30 seconds, this should completely close the IAC...

Any downside to modding the throttle body?

If AC is NLA, airtex/wells is good quality. NAPA should have them under their name....they will tell you who makes the part for them. Example:NAPA gold filters=WIX In fact, just found it on rock auto, airtex/wells part #2H1037 $40 ....But test yours first, ground the test connector, and turn...

Any downside to modding the throttle body?

Its the only way to check for under manifold vacuum leaks. Plug off both pcv ports, take out the dipstick, and stick a rubber line from a propane source on the dipstick tube, and turn it on while the engine is running. The pod spacer letsmore air by, but its not enough to feel it in the seat...

Any downside to modding the throttle body?

Maybe the injector pod spacer, but you wont notice much from the mods. None of it will effect the way it runs, everything is based on Vac, coolant temp, and o2. Have you filled the crank case with propane ro check the underside of the manifold?

Just bought an '86 C20 Suburban

Nice! The only 800 cfm q jets were on late 60's HI Po cars, maybe a few early 70s. 87 and up trucks were TBI fuel injection, with the exception of some HD 1 tons, which still had computer controlled 750cfm carbs. Your best bet is to rebuild your 750, and maybe find another base plate...if...

    So sick of aftermarket parts

Good deal, but I thought after you had been a member here this long, you would have changed back to the original coil within a few days....glad you kept it in the glove box. Aftermarket ignition parts, shoul come with trunk lid/tailgate warmers.

Vortec does not have the bolts in the center of the intake. Has 2 at each corner.

    k10 ignition help

First of all, stock AC Delco ignition is best, Aftermarket has had some of us wishing for tailgate warmers. Is there anything else spliced off of the ignition system for keyed power? Maybe get an AC Delco ignition module, and give it a try.

    TBI and cams

Chris, That cam he spec'ed out looks pretty mild, shouldnt really be any diiference in vacuum, which is the big deal. LSA is a biggy too, anything over 110 is good for TBI/TPI.

    TBI and cams

You should be ok without a tune, but port the exhaust ports on the heads at least, this will help wake her up a little more.

    Manual Torque Convertor Lock-up 700r4

The ECM activates lockup via the ground, once it gets signal from the high gear switch. If that wire is chaffing anywhere and grounding out, the ECM is being bypassed all together. Shit, When i was testing after I got the TBi installed, I overlooked the lock up test wire going to the ALDL port...

    Manual Torque Convertor Lock-up 700r4

Im not sure if they did pre 87, but I think the wring on all the Aux valve body models are all the same. On e the ecm gets the activation sig from the high gear switch, which I believe is on the 3rd gear circuit, the ecm waits for the lockup command speed to be reached, then activates...

    Manual Torque Convertor Lock-up 700r4

^^^^this. and unless someone has fucked with the TCC wiring, all TBI overdrive transmission are to Lock up in 3rd gear....usually happens around 33ish mph. Heat is a 700r4s enemy, nothing else.
