tbi issues, on my 88 gmt400

One thing to try, is to power the fuel pump manually, with a switch, or twist wires together..just temporary, bypassing ecm control and the oil pressure switch. Then use that for a day and see what happens....i dunno if it would take care of the gear change stall, but it might, especially if the...

    Edelbrock Q-Jet?

Yup, Carter was under contract when Rochester couldn't keep up with demand. They will have "Caryer" stamped in the casting.

    Towing weight?

Beats me...unless they didnt have a transfer case back then that would handle that type of load.

Hey Chris, not doubting your mechanical abilities, you definately have your shit together there, but dying when shifting kinda screams vac leak. No accel over 40 sounds like a plugged exhaust, but I know you are catless. And the timing issue...nuttier than Squirrel shit(Thanks for that saying...

Each plug cavity is numbered on the side where the wires come in. Row designator will be at the end of each row. Small plug is A and B, large is C and D.

tbi issues, on my 88 gmt400

Wont hurt, will just be 4 degrees lower in timing, and it will not advance or retard. will trigger a light. When its warm, and doesnt want to start, hook a timing light to the coil wire to see if there is a delay in spark. May be one of those elusive power/ ground issues. TBI does not hold...

Pass side...I remember my 86 trans having a pressure switch on the pass side, not sure of 85. I think they have 2 pressure taps on that side, that were done away with in 87.

Ooofff...thats a rough one. Would have to be there to show you....unless someone else here can 'Splain it....like Retro, or if you know someone that does car stereos. Is there a pressur switch on the right side of your trans, above the pan? Its been so long since I have seen a 1st gen 700r4...

The never ending 700r4 Lockup questions haha

Yup, thats it. As far as wiring, the light blue wire(high gear input)from the trans, will wire into cavity C7 on the ECM plug, and the tan and black lockup wire, which is already in cavity A7(for downshifting the TH400) is already there, and you will most likely find the other end of it in the...

The never ending 700r4 Lockup questions haha

No it will be completely different. The C20 most likely had a th400. To do this the right way, you will need a PROM from a 700r4 truck. Code ASDU will work just fine, then, you can wire the lockup to work properly off the ECM. You can probably find one real easy on ebay, or, 89suburban may have one.

Just bought an '86 C20 Suburban

The E carbs were mostley a california deal, the ESC was on all of them from 82 to 86, but even then on select models. A vehicle meant to have an E carb, wont have vac advance, but just a 4 wire pigtail for the ECM controlled timing. The ESc dizzys with the Vac advance were there to try to curb...
