    Need a bit more oomph...

Much appreciated on a cam direction… You mention that the heads are the biggest problem, thoughts on a direction for heads that won’t break my marriage?

    Need a bit more oomph...

Thanks for the feedback- The truck has 4:10’s… I would use it mostly as a daily… (I have a Duramax for any substantial towing)… most of my driving is under 2500 rpm… so lower end torque is the desire.

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

I thought I'd provide a follow-up to this post. As stated above - I installed a slip-yoke 'cv' joint drive shaft from Tom Woods Driveshafts to solve my 'rattle' issue from the drive train. I drove it about 800 miles to Breckenridge CO via Amarillo and Colorado Springs. When I got to Colorado...

    Need a bit more oomph...

I have a 1985 K20. It appears the previous owner put in a crate 350 - likely the lowest horsepower/torque engine - it doesn't have a ton of guts. A few months ago I swap out the SM 465 for an NV4500. It has an edelbrock cab (unknown which carb). I'm about to swap out the front clip (rusty...

    Speedometer cable extension???

I have a 1975 GMC Jimmy - and recently swapped in an NV4500/NP208 - previously had the SM465/NP203 - consequently my speedometer cable is about 3" short. What are my options? Can I order somewhere a longer cable or can I add an extension - if so where can I source what I need? Thoughts?

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

I suspected it may be the single u-joint at the transmission where originally there was a CV joint...and after speaking with the technician at Tom Woods Driveshafts - he felt certain the issue was having two u-joints over-spinning the internals of the tranny. That is why it was yelling at me AND...

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

Just a quick update... I was able to order a slip-yoke CV joint driveshaft from Tom Woods as no one else seems to be able to source the slip-yoke CV joint. The new driveshaft WITH the slip-yoke CV joint was less expensive than Inland Truck part's new driveshaft with no CV joint... and got it to...

    Reverse light plug - SM465 to NV4500???

Is there a way to convert the old style plug (for the SM 465) to a newer NV4500 plug - on top of the tranny?

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

Thanks for the feedback... it is a blazer, and it is lifted and it had a CV at the transfer case. I'm hoping getting that added back to the new drive shaft will allow it to run smooth with the NV 4500 as it did with the SM 465. Here are a few pics...

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

The rear diff is angled up to point almost directly 'at' the transfer case input shaft... so the rear diff and thus the u-joint and drive shaft are 'in line'. Again, this has all been working perfectly for a number of years... until I swapped the transmission, transfer case and Inland remove...

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

The transfer case is at 4.5 degrees, the drive shaft is at 17 degrees - so a 12.5 degree difference... I'm thinking that is the issue with no CV joint to mitigate. The driveshaft I had built for the 203 (2 years or so ago) had a cv joint built into the transfer case end of the drive shaft. I've...

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

It worked perfectly before the swap so it has to be something that changed (clutch, transmission, transfer case). The other thing that was modified was the rear drive shaft. Originally it had a CV joint at the transfer case end of the drive shaft, the rebuilt drive doesn’t not (it is a slip...

Nv4500 ‘rattle’ between acceleration and deceleration…

I swapped in an NV4500/np208 into my 1975 Jimmy - 3rd vehicle I’ve swapped in the NV4500. I had both rebuilt before the swap by Standard Transmission in Fort Worth TX. Here is the problem: in 3rd or 4th or 5th gear, when there is no ‘pressure’ on the tranny (so not accelerating or...

    NV4500 + 12” clutch and pressure plate???

@SquareRoot thank you, super helpful. Quick question, re-reading your post.. your flywheel hit the bell housing… where mine when on perfectly…. I wonder what the difference is? I purchased a stock 168 tooth flywheel and clutch kit from Oreilly’s…??? On your slave mounting bracket…do your forks...

    NV4500 + 12” clutch and pressure plate???

I just installed my NV4500 and used the AA kit (bell housing + hydraulic slave mounting bracket) 2 questions: 1. I could only get a 12” clutch setup … no 11” was available.. and my stock clutch was also 12”… Everything seems to bolt up… Am I in for a rude awakening when I crank it? 2. Anyone...

Source for Power Window door panels?

@CalSgt - Thanks for the info. When I bought this Blazer it was a literal rusted basket case.... but the previous owner gave me two door he picked up from a salvage yard - electric window doors. I'm very glad to know these are likely '77 doors... as I didn't know what the model range was. I...

Source for Power Window door panels?

I can't seem to find a supplier for power window door panels for a 1975 Blazer. - Manual windows all day long... but no power window door panels. Would a 1977 door panel fit by chance? Other options? Any help is much appreicated!

Fuel tank sending unit - 3 port or 4 port?

One of the tests I ran to verify my vapor lock was happening IN the pump... is with it running - motor hot - and really just barely enough fuel in the glass fuel filter which lives between the pump and the carb (so I know it is in the process of vapor locking)... I took a water hose and ran...

Fuel tank sending unit - 3 port or 4 port?

Second question, the 4 port sending unit I purchased will have an extra port… I’m assuming I can simply cap it off? Port 1 will feed the fuel pump Port 2 is the fuel filler neck vent Port 3 will be the return from the 3 port fuel pump… Again, I’m assuming I do not need to set up a charcoal...
