    lock plate retaining ring

(picture stolen from aurora girl) the missing piece in question is the nasty little silver ring that can be seen sitting right under the green center section of the lock plate tool. it is the ring that holds the lock plate down and the spring compressed mike

i took the basket case on a shakedown cruise Saturday night. i found out that the manual transmission needs more oil, the brakes aren't there at all and the tires suck. it was the best 30 minute "keep the battery charged" ride of my life!

Opinions on cutting out catalytic converters.

Thanks for the reply. I knod of figured that it was "missing" a cat considering that every vacuume hose related to the remaining emissions and EGR are missing! They have been gone long enough for a mud dobber to build a home in the vacuum port on the EGR.....

What have you done to your square lately??

I got the fuel from a gas tank that was *supposed* to be plugged up, to the carburator. Now to replace the rusted in, nasy and throughly clogged fuel filter........ I did bench test the radio and i get to put that back in next....

Does the 81 C10 even have a Cat? I ask since there is no cat on the truck, no place where one was and no O2 sensor. The vehicle DOES (kind of) have an EGR valve........
