    Overheating

Or a bad radiator cap. If it doesn't hold pressure to 15 or 16 lbs, it's more prone to overheating as well. The higher the pressure, the higher the boiling point. So instead of overheating at 212F... it now jumps to 240F or 260F before boiling and overheating

Wanting some advice on tranny install

I'm turning 40 this yr... meh, so old but not that old. Lol I'm sorry to the OP as well, this is my last irrelevant to the post comment. I would love to work & drive something like a Chevelle. I do prefer to own older vehicles here. I would love to own even older if I can find something more...

Wanting some advice on tranny install

I have tinkered on them, I think it was an old Nova & vette that had a m-something but that was over 10 yrs ago, maybe 15. I don't come across many of those either. For the last 8 yrs at least is more modern trannys, from late 80s to 00s Not that it's my field either, I'm more engine &...

Wanting some advice on tranny install

I've worked on much older, Model T & A gearboxes... but none of the vehicles I've worked on had a th350. Lol

That would be the one. Correction . Looks like you're right on this 350. Just kick down function. I wanted to cover all bases. I'm not familiar with this model trans

Wanting some advice on tranny install

I'm not a 100% as I've never worked on one, but a quick search showed me it does. Apparently some people delete it, but in my experience on other models, I wouldn't recommend that.

Wanting some advice on tranny install

Line Out of the tranny goes to the bottom of cooler. This is so it must be pushed throughout the cooler, so it gets cooled. Another reason your last trans burnt up maybe due to a misadjusted TV cable. This controls line pressures. Crucial factor.

Wanting some advice on tranny install

The transfer case just shifts the weight so awkwardly... that darn thing alone is heavy. If working by yourself, I agree with Blue OX and do 1 at a time. Lining up the bell housing to engine is hard enough with just the trans, and you don't need the uneven weight on the end working against you...

TBI injectors dumping fuel with key on, engine off

So you can see how to hook up a test light in my drawing here. Remember, injectors unplugged. Be careful not to short the positive side (red & white wires) to ground, as you'll blow the ECM1 fuse. You can use rags or a towel to place on top off throttle body to keep from shorting anything...

TBI injectors dumping fuel with key on, engine off

You must have wired something wrong. They are ground side switched by ECM. What I would do is 1st make sure to unplug injectors. Red & white of the injectors should be constant hot with key on. If that's good, use a noid light on each of the injector connectors (or an incandescent test light...

    Heating and a/c

AC is expensive. You're going to pay either way. New, being the most... then you pay with time if having to search through yards. Post a zip, so he can estimate for ya. Certain things I would only get new to ensure all works well the 1st time Compressor & accumulator, and be sure to vacuum the...

    Overheating

The impellers may look good, but the bearings may starting to go? When heated, it's possible. Might be the reason it threw the belt off in the 1st place. The pump doesn't push coolant through the thermostat, it technically pumps it through the engine, the heated wax in the thermostat is what...

    Done with 700R4

I've got plenty of info regarding the adjustment of TV valve and cable. The only way to truly know what it's doing is by pulling the pan down & use a buddy. See my pics and notes on this thread: https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/700r4-tv-cable-and-carb.18888/ This is if indeed the TV...

    Done with 700R4

Me, I drive in drive when doing local, lower speeds up to 45ish, especially with a lot of stop and go or if the area is hilly with steep inclines & declines. I also use drive in inclement weather or any towing. OD for most driving, like 45 and above speeds, long stretches of road, highways...

    Done with 700R4

100% agree with Glock & Super Dave... it's all about WHO does the rebuild. Rebuilders, mechanics, shops, etc are NOT rated equally. You have butchers and crooks, then there's the aces and quality control, great workers. Since your in NJ, maybe NY is not too far from you? I know for a fact...

    Back brakes lock before fronts

I usually have this issue when the rear shoes aren't adjusted properly, when they are too low. Especially on cold starts, this issue would be more pronounced. If this is the case, simply adjust the shoes to have a slight drag. Make sure to cycle the e brake in the process to get them to seat all...

    I need a timing light

It may not matter too much on hard tools such as sockets or ratchets, but it does matter on measuring or precision tools, such as torque spec, scanner, calibration... you don't want to under or over adjust things. Too cheap and your wheels are flying off while driving down the highway or...

    I need a timing light

I've had good luck with the innova tools. Cheap, but they seem to last long and work well. I haven't had one fail yet. But I also treat my tools with respect... lol my money makers! I totally agree. A much more responsive accelerator pedal, it seems like.

    Leaf Spring Bushings

Yes the energy. You may be right on the stiffness, but I was assuming on why they may squeak more than the black ones. The lack of graphite may be it then. I've used white ones too, but a different company. It's hard to tell how hard they are because of the time of year I may do a job. The...

    HELP! Starter issue?

Next time you're having starter issues: Check cables. Need a good ground to body from battery. Need a good ground to engine block from battery. Positive cable needs to be directly connected to main post on starter, main post on alternator, and fuse block. Just because cables look good, does...
