    Speedometer needle bouncing at idle?

My speedo is off. Pretty common with these old trucks with changes to tire sizes, axle ratios, etc. I used a GPS speedometer app on my phone to figure out true speed. Mine reads about 5 mph slower than actual speed at around 60-65 mph so I just drive about 5 over all the time.

    TH400 Oil cooler Pan

I was also told, cooler first then through the factory cooler in the radiator then back to the trans. It may seem counter intuitive to potentially heat it back up after the aftermarket cooler but you don't want the trans fluid too cold either.

    Help stop theft 87 V10

I would like to do something visually deterrent but haven't yet bought the steering column guard. My current theft prevention device is a trailer coupler lock. I've got a side post battery. When I'm in an area where I want more protection I remove the negative battery post bolt and then...

    Bearing fell apart

There's a good sticky by 89suburban about it in this section of the forum.

Photo of the radiator in a 2WD, 2500 w/ SBC

Here is the 3/4 ton page about cooling systems. It doesn't list size but does list frontal area.

Photo of the radiator in a 2WD, 2500 w/ SBC

I've got the info package for my truck from GM Heritage website that has all the radiator sizes and I downloaded one for a suburban as well. I'll look up radiator sizes in there. I remember reading somewhere about the fan and shroud. I'm guessing it's so the air gets pushed completely out...

Photo of the radiator in a 2WD, 2500 w/ SBC

Interesting, mine is 2wd. 454, 2500 camper special with engine oil cooler and everything else heavy duty. I assumed it would have the biggest radiator as well. On another note, I thought the rear edge of the fan blades were supposed to be outside the fan shroud.

Here are a few from mine. Not the best pictures but hopefully they will help.

    Delay Module location

As Chisum72 says, I think you are missing the module between those connectors. My truck did not originally have delay wipers. I had to replace the MFS so I got one with delay. With the two wire harnesses connected directly together the low/high and wash function worked but not delay function...

    1990 V1500 Suburban Smog parts

We need to know which engine you have. Are there any emission stickers on the air cleaner? That will show you what was on the truck originally.

    Can I run just headers?

I've seen glass packs that bolt right up to the headers, no exhaust pipes required. Should make it tolerable to drive.

    Chrome window visors

I've got a set on mine. It's nice to get some air without getting wet if its raining. I never paid attention to how they are mounted, they were on my truck when I bought it.

    Turn Signal switch

I did it, it was difficult but not too bad. I think I loosened the bolts that hold up the column so it could drop down from the dash and get to it easier. It has been about two years so I don't remember exactly.

installed an alarm, but can't get parking lights to flash

Do you have a spare bulb you can hook up by itself to verify the control box is actually working for the light to flash? I'd try that first. What wire/where did you tap into the circuit?

    Sticky ignition

Sounds like it might need to be adjusted as well as cleaned up. The mounting holes are slots.

    Double Dingo's 1965 3/4 Ton "Crusty Biscuit"

The relays for the headlight made a good improvement for me. I bought the kit from LMC, you might be able to do it yourself cheaper but it was only $30 and definitely worth the cost for the lighting improvement and for me the cost vs time tradeoff was also worth it rather than making my own.

    Converting burb rear ac housing

Relay, but then you still have to run another set of power lines back there.

    1/2 ton upgrade or find a 454 3/4 ton

Mines a pickup and not a Burb but I'd recommend the big block. My boat and trailer are around 7k pounds. I've got a TH400 and 3.73 gears. It's not fast accelerating but it doesn't strain either. On relatively flat land I can go 60 mph no problem and pass slow traffic on the interstate...

What have you done to your square lately??

Cleaned mine up and parked it. It stays at our second home and doesn't get driven much during the winter. All I did to it all summer was add gas and drive it. That is meant to be a compliment for the truck, there are lots of things I'd like to do to it but nothing that has to be done.

Fresh air duct installation - help

Is it TBI? I think the TBI fresh air duct went to the fender not the rad support. I'm not certain but I know I've seen pictures of some going to the fender.

Th400 whine from converter/pump after fluid change

Trans fluid should be checked warm with engine running, trans in Park to get the proper reading.

    1974 heater air flow

Some years had the fan run all the time. Somebody with more knowledge will probably come along with more details of which years.
  23. GTME94

How much MPG does your 454 get, and TBI conversion?

I don't have any precise MPG calculations but my truck gets about 10mpg highway. 3/4 ton, 454, carbed, TH400, 3.73 axle.
