    Rear brake hardware

I ended up NOT using this kit. The piece on the top of this picture is about an inch shorter than the original. I had to buy it just to get the 2 red springs that go under the self adjuster arm.

    Rear brake hardware

It's amazing how a simple job turns into a 2 week job. Started out just replacing the wheel cylinders, then the complete hardware kit, which I didn't use most of. Then ended up replacing both brake lines from the tee to each rear wheel. Got it done finally, and truck is back on the road. They...

    Cab roof lights

I've seen the block with the terminals on it, kind of figuring they were for grounds. Here is one of the lights, broken down so you can see what I'm working with. If these don't end up working, I'll find a set of originals, a pattern, and install those. I like these since they are low profile...

    Cab roof lights

Ok guys. I finally found the destructions, I mean instructions for my cab lights.(They fell behind my bench). Anyways here's how they say to wire them up. I'm all ears on a much better, safer way to wire them up. How can I get the wiring between the roof panels, and still have them all...

    A-pillar grab handles.

I don't have any tools like you have but if you were to make and sell them, what would be the cost? I'd want one for each side though. I'm weird that way, lol

Bed removal and using stock taillights

I'm wanting to remove my bed, to replace the front panel, get the large dent out of the left side, and generally clean up the frame, and replace the rubber fuel lines from the fuel tank. Anyways, has anyone used their stock taillights mounted to the frame, or did you get a different set of...

    Looking for a softer ride

Thanks DoubleDingo. I think the shocks come with new studs. If they don't, I will definitely get some. I really lucked out on this truck when I bought it 5 years ago. Very little rust, except in the lower left corner of the windshield, which I fixed, and the right cab corner, where someone left...

    Looking for a softer ride

As far as shocks go, can I use standard original ride quality, style shocks or should I go with heavy duty?. I found some AC Delco shocks for about $35 each, or AC Delco Heavy Duty for about $39 each. I've heard that Monroe, and Gabriel shocks aren't that good?

    Rear brake hardware

The small red spring is what I need. I have been to ACE and went through everything they have, and even went to NAPA and they only carry the complete kits. I'm trying to avoid that kit if I can but if I need to, I will get them. Are there any places that carry just automotive type springs? Maybe...

    Looking for a softer ride

It seems my truck has a hard ride. I feel every little bump, crack etc. and it seems to shake the daylights out of my truck. I've only had one other 3/4 ton, and it was a 73 Dodge D200, but that was back in the late 80's and I can't remember if it rode this hard or not. I know it will never...

    Looking for a softer ride

That's a good possibility. The shocks are/were leaking. These we're on the truck when I bought it 5 years ago. I'll try new shocks before removing leafs

    Rear brake hardware

Another brake question for everyone. Did GM install plastic and cast iron master cylinders on all trucks in the 80"s? I was looking at Rock Auto and they show both for my 84 GMC. Mine is leaking a little so may need to replace it, and was wondering if I should stay with the steel or go with the...

    Rear brake hardware

I guess I should have got the "Master Kit" so to speak. I ended up using a couple of old springs. I had to order new steel lines for the rear axle to wheel, as the left rear line is bent at the nut so cant get it off to change the wheel cylinder.(I'm wondering if this is why my wheel locks up...

Rear drums and parking brake hardware

The Raybestos kit I bought doesn't come with the red spring that goes under the tab on the self adjuster arm. Now I need to go to ACE hardware and find one for each side. My right one broke.

    Rear brake hardware

Good Morning everyone. I have a question concerning drum brake hardware. I bought a Raybestos kit from Rock Auto, and noticed a couple of things. First off, there is now spring that goes under the self adjuster arm, and 2nd, there are only 2 of the "cups" that the pin goes through. Shouldn't...
