    Yup, I ran a Derale fan driven auxiliary cooler on my 86 1031. Heat is the killer of 700R4's.

    I had a B&M controller that crapped out in only a few months. I just wired the lockup to an old school headlight dimmer switch, and switched the lockup on and off accordingly. I used it for highway driving only.

    The 6.2 is gutless, bolt a Banks turbo to a J code 6.2 and you're getting about 210 hp. I had one and loved it. Add a stout 700R4 and get 4 speeds and lockup which makes it essentially a 5 speed locked up. I had that combination in my 86 M1031-K30. You have to ask yourself if the effort...

    Gentlemen, my newly acquired 84 K30 doesn't seem to shift right. It's hard to tell when it shifts. It's more or less sliding when it upshifts. Could it need a new modulator or could the 37 inch tires be the cause?

    IMHO, the builder should have done that for you. The transmission can be severely damaged if the TV cable is not adjusted properly from the start. Ask me how I know this.

    Oh boy, be careful with the TV cable adjustment. I put a Monster 700R4 transmission in an M1031 K30 I had at the time. The TV cable bracket position on the engine is critical to get a proper adjustment .
