    Header/Exhaust thoughts

Haven't had a chance to do any work on Blue, my work schedule is pretty intense these days. I'm not complaining though. :) I hate even bringing this up, but I'm contemplating getting some shortys in there. I've read (although there are differing opinions on the subject) that shortys are...

Hey Snoots, which part of his post are you disagreeing with? Everything I've read indicates lower engine compartment temperatures with the installation of ceramic headers.

    QJet Linkage

Was searching for something else and ran across my own dang post. Gotta get better at watching my own threads! lol It seems strange that carb would have a choke pull off vacuum, but no way to attach the linkage. If that's the only thing the vacuum diaphragm does, should I just leave it...

    Temp gauge issues

Backfoot, thank you for this post, and the information found within. I've run into a situation similar to yours. Both my voltmeter and temperature gauge are inop. The voltmeter never moves off of 0, my temp gauge reads maxed out and fluctuates very slightly after engine heats up. I've...

    Gauge resistors or Complete Gauges

Looking for the resistors on the back of both the Voltmeter and Temperature Gauge (mine are both open..). Or the complete gauge, that would be fine too. Thanks!

    Header/Exhaust thoughts

Bit of an update! So, my work schedule is...increasing. I'll be pushing 96 hours or so a week for the next three weeks. Needless to say, I'm not going to have a ton of time to tinker. I needed a solution for the leaky muffler and exhaust manifold, so I took her into a local fella and had him...

    Temperature Gauge Open Resistor

So, my gauge has been reading high, meaning it maxes out on startup first thing in the morning. It seems to move a bit as the engine warms, but obviously somethings wrong here. I ohm'd out the sending unit, and checked for grounds, but all was good. Decided to pull the dash, and found that...

Stumble at low rpm in gear.

If you're sure the filters are clean, I would check choke operation and linkages first. Mainly, cause it's the easiest. Just my .02 ;)

    Need Shocks...and maybe new kidneys

10-4, I'll do that. When I got the tires installed, they had 70 pounds in them. Might have actually chipped a tooth on the way home. lol Brought them down to 40, but I'm thinking I can go lower, right? How low can I go without damaging the tire, and/or reducing the life of the tire? I'm...

    Need Shocks...and maybe new kidneys

So, I've got my '83 K20 up at running, and am temporarily running it as my DD (I left my true DD in KS, I'll pick up someday ;) ). First , I love driving this thing!! Definitely a trip down memory lane when I get behind the wheel! That being said, as I drive her more and more, and get some...

    All gauges are wonky...

Illumination is dim, but seems to be working. Clock isn't working, no. I believe the fuel gauge moves toward the empty mark, but I can't say for certain. I'll check when I get home 4WD light works, as does the brake (emergency) and the seat belt signal. Thanks!

    All gauges are wonky...

I'll probably find out when I get home, but is that something I can check without removing the gauge panel? Thanks!

Roger that, thanks! I'll try pulling tonight...

    All gauges are wonky...

Just getting my new (to me) 83 K20 moving again, and I'm needing a bit of help regarding my gauges. Here's what I have: Volt meter - Needle never moves from 0 Oil pressure - Needle never returns to 0, only moves a tiny bit (between 60-65) Temperature - Needle never returns to 0, indicated...

    Fuel Pump Woes and Questions

Okay, so I figured it out. I'm an idiot. Looking at too many things at once, and inadvertently put blinders on. The accumulator has TWO ports. One going to the inside of the truck, and one being fed by vacuum from the intake manifold. Yep, the larger diameter vacuum line was for the...

Rebuild Auto Hubs or Replace with Manual?

Wanted to post an update for y'all... So, I bought some Warns hubs and everything that goes with it, and was ready to replace the autos. However when I got up here, I started tinkering with them, and they seemed to be working as advertised. Decided to put a temporary tach in and see what the...

    Header/Exhaust thoughts

Hey folks! I appreciate all the information folks. Research continues... lol So, these exhaust manifolds have been on there, well, forever... When I do end up changing them out, what do y'all recommend to decrease my chances of snapping a bolt off in the head? I'm going to presoak with a...

    TH400 seems to be dragging

I had to put new tires on her as soon as I started tinkering on her and decided that I wanted something with just a touch more meat on them. The stock tires were 235/85/R16 and I went with 285/65/R16. It made a nice difference, and it should have only made a few mph difference on the speedo...

    TH400 seems to be dragging

Fluid was low (that pan gasket had given up the ghost a while back), but it looked and smelled good. I changed out the filter and gasket, and other than the 'dragging', the trans is perfect. Nice, solid gear engagement, no buzzing, no slippage felt, nada... You hit it on the head though. Its...
