    Double Hump thoughts:

The accessory holes (or lack thereof) is what really sold me on new heads. As well as having to potentially work them over to match my needs. Thanks!

    Double Hump thoughts:

After I posted this, I was thinking the same thing. Just too much trouble. I've had my eye on the 152123s for a while now. I'm thinking that with those heads, and an 1103 cam, it should wake this 68,000 mile motor up at bit. How does that sound? ;)

    Double Hump thoughts:

Found a set of rebuilt double hump heads (casting # 3782461) that I can pick up for 400 bones. I've been toying the idea of getting a better flowing set of heads to go with a RV torque cam for my 83 K20, and thought this might fit the bill. What say y'all?

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

Actually, it's an aftermarket Amazon special. I know, I know... But it was red, and that adds like 8.57 horsepower, right?

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

Well, still driving on the back up ignition module, but all seems well. Bout to head out for the backup to the backup ignition module, but a pretty healthy test drive shows she's happy, so I'll not worry too much about it. Probably going to check my AFR with vac gauge here in a bit. I put...

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

The bushings looked good as well. Like I said, mechanically, it looks brand new in there. I'm just weirded out by how much vac advance I'm getting.:/ So, I got some numbers. With vacuum advance disconnected and plugged, I get the following: 800 RPM - 12° 2500 RPM - 31° With vacuum...

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

Thanks, but I have a back up ACDelco unit that I have laying around. Also, regarding the weights, they looked in perfect condition. No rust, good springs, etc... Thanks!

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

Okay, so I've got a new ACDelco ignition module on the way. Until then, I thought I'd check the timing. I disconnected vacuum advance, set it to 12 degrees. Good baseline, and she seemed to like it. Here's my concern: When I reconnect port vacuum, I'm seeing an increase of 18 degrees at 800...

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

'Preciate all the comments folks. Looks like I'm in the market for new ignition module(s). I too, believe in spares. lol As I mentioned, purchased an Amazon special, found here. Turns out a few other folks have had the same problem I did. lol If I replace the guts inside (coil, module)...

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

Didn't have any compound, but the old one I put on had some. I know it's not the best, but it's what I had for the moment for troubleshooting. I'll grab some and apply it before I run her again. That being said, she fired up, so I know that it was the module, but she seems....sluggish? Also...

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

Actually, they did. Drove for another 45 minutes after, if that makes a difference?

    Lost an ignition module. Why?

So, I got the headers installed and welded out. AWESOME! Lost an ignition module on the way home from the exhaust shop. Super NOT awesome. I checked voltage at the dizzy. All good. I thought it was the coil. It was hot. And when I say hot, like the surface of the sun hot. I figured it...

Exhaust Manifold Removal for Headers Install Questions

Also, has anyone seen the episode of Engine Masters where they discuss the length of the header collector extensions? They tinkered with varying lengths of the extensions and dyno'd after each shortening of the extensions. What they found is that, while the changes in extension length didn't...

    NECESSARY Q-jet vacuum lines needed

Thanks for your replies! Trying to get some pictures uploaded now, but I think I have it figured out. The diaphragm in the back I was referring to is the rear vacuum break. I was concerned with what type of vacuum it needed, manifold or ported. Decided on manifold. The thing was, there...

    NECESSARY Q-jet vacuum lines needed

Finally got some time to tinker. Got some headers installed (removed the air pump) and was moving on to cleaning up the 3.641 miles of vacuum lines up on the intake. I know I need vacuum advance, brakes, cruise (when I get around to troubleshooting that), but what else do I need? There seems...

Exhaust Manifold Removal for Headers Install Questions

Shiftpro - Looks good and out of the way. More clearance than I was thinking I was going to have. Still, I'll probably shield the start just in case!

Exhaust Manifold Removal for Headers Install Questions

Okay, got 'em in. Turns out I was impatient. It was only out by a wee bit, so I was able to fix the issue by simply turning the sensor a bit. Found out when I put my old trust headlamp on and got my peepers way down in there. Still, the sensor fitting is only 1/8" or so away from the header...

Exhaust Manifold Removal for Headers Install Questions

Update: Got the passenger side installed (not torqued yet), but the driver's side is being a pain. Basically, I have an aftermarket temp sensor installed, and it's too big. I'm thinking of just grinding a bit out of the header flange (which I REALLY don't want to do), or finding a new sensor...

Exhaust Manifold Removal for Headers Install Questions

Thanks y'all! I ended up cutting them just after the flange. I'll end up cutting them some more to get the headers in, but at least I got the damn logs out! And get this. ALL of the manifolds were easy to come out. I mean like I didn't even have to break them loose. Weird. I had to...

Exhaust Manifold Removal for Headers Install Questions

On second thought, I'm thinking about breaking the old sawz-all out and just cutting the flanges off. Given that the headers will be considerably longer, and the exhaust will have to be modified to accept them anyway... Thoughts?

Exhaust Manifold Removal for Headers Install Questions

Hey folks!! It's been a while since I've been on the forums. I've been busier than you know what, and haven't had a damned minute to tinker with my 83 K20 at all these last months. BUT, I've got a few days, so I thought I'd drop the headers in. Might even tackle the intake while I'm at it...

Have to store outside. Truck Cover?

As I mentioned, I wish I could build a cover for her. I'm looking at selling my place and getting into a bit of property within the next 6 months or so. When that happens, I'll be able to put up a cover for her. Until then, I was just wanted to keep her out of the elements a bit during the...
