    Leak under dash?

I haven't dug into it yet, but after hours of heavy rain I had a trickle of water from under the dash, drivers side left of steering column. I have the dash pad pulled out, not coming from the windshield seal...is it coming from where the firewall meets the cab under the cowl? The only reason it...

Should I yank my engine to do oil pan gasket?

I already bought the chain cover gasket and a new Cloyes timing chain set, I will probably just do it in truck. Pull the radiator out, put it up on jackstands.

What if any current truck caps will fit squarebodies?

Nobody makes new truck caps for them. Does anyone know if a cap for a different model will fit my 82 longbed without too much trouble? I would be willing to fabricate mounts for it.

Small size tires for ATVs and mowers - Recommendations?

I remember the first time I found out how little authority those mower front turf tires have, so does that shed.

New guy here, from North Georgia

I think for trail work, a six is better because it can be easier to apply the maximum amount of torque without spinning the wheels.

    My first new car...

My first truck was a 2WD 1976 Jimmy, 350 with auto. My first 4WD truck and first new vehicle was this 1987 "Power Ram" 150. 1987 was the last year of the Slant 6, and to meet emissions it had a 1 barrel and an anemic 90hp. The only options on it were a sliding rear window and a limited slip rear...

I was looking for a straight six but ended up buying this v8 model. Prices going up and supply going down. LOVE straight sixes.

What are some options for mud flaps?

I would really like to install mud flaps on my K10, front and rear. What would offer the best protection for the body? Cost or ease of installation less concern than effectiveness.

Zinc, Engine oil and flat cams

As you said, most engines will do fine without higher ZDDP levels especially if they aren't driven hard. I also agree that many people are worrying about it needlessly, the automotive version of "gluten free" food. In the Porsche shop we always used VR1. There are numerous high ZDDP racing oils...

Should I yank my engine to do oil pan gasket?

1982 K10, 350, 4 speed, stock exhaust. I have a leak at the front of the pan, and probably one on the front crank seal as well. I'd like to correct it before it gets bad. I haven't spent a lot of time looking at it, but it looks like it might be possible to do it without taking the engine out...

I don't know where else to post this so...

I am very familiar with how internet forums work, and this one is no different. It does seem to have a lot of helpful and knowledgeable members which is a good thing. Personally, I avoid posting memes when a noob asks a question that has been seen before.

So, all of the genius level responders posting Judge Judy and STNG memes are being as clueless/inattentive as they are implying I am? Shocking that this forum is exactly like every other forum on the web.

I don't know where else to post this so...

I understand that the creators and admins of this site probably don't want an open discussion forum, because they require a lot of moderation. If you want to argue about politics or vent about your in-laws there are plenty of places to do that. But it would be nice to have a forum where people...

Headers for economy on 82 K10?

SirRobyn0 I hooked a Mityvac up to the EGR valve at the exhaust manifold and with engine (warm) running actuated the valve. No difference in operation of the engine, the valve itself did actuate. The vac hose that goes to the control for the flapper in the snorkel is not connected, it is just...

Some cool cars I worked on in my old life.

TotalyHucked We didn't do many race cars, but the shop across the lot's business was about 90% prepping Porsche track cars. 90% of our business was restoration and repair of 356s. We won lots of trophies, the the black 1951 in my original post won it's class at Amelia Island and sold for 7...
