Soon to be new to me 97 burb

Worked out a deal this weekend for a new vehicle. Picking up a 97 1/2 ton Burb with tailgate. Needs a little work but it is in good shape. Needs a front heater core and flush, should get a new rear bumper and I need to find some seat covers for the front. Nice thing is I've known this...

Our go to wrecker is also a 6.0. :( We have two older trucks that combined spend less time in the shop. Boss probably should have replaced that wrecker instead of the OLD Intl rollback but I'm glad he did. Too bad he doesn't have extra money lying around. One of our competitors just bought...

I'm not a fan of wreckers for day in day out use but they have their place. That is one of those situations where the wrecker would have been the way to go. It seems that every time I go out with a wrecker I end up spending all day out with it and every call is a tow. A week and a half ago I...

Tried that on an 05 VW. It didn't have the override. It was pulled into the garage so I was having to load it backwards. That meant there was no way my cables would reach without turning the truck. Bad news is I apparently broke the shift boot looking for the override.

Wish the boss would break down and get a couple for the rollbacks. Big pain in the ass when you get set up to grab a car and then find out it is too dead to shift. Always fun to roll back up and turn around in order to jump shift it so you can turn around and load up the car.

John Deere vs 3rd world driver

The tractor was clear when I got there so I don't know the specs on it. I think this lady tried passing the tractor and didn't have the room to pull it off and tore the car up on the bucket trying to move back over.

John Deere vs 3rd world driver

Well the JD had a front end loader bucket on it. I have my theory about what happened but I am curious how some of you would read this. I turned away when the officer started laughing when asked if it was the tractor's fault.

She did have the balls to ask the officer if the tractor was at fault.

Yeah, I impressed the snot out of that guy. It was an out of area call with a 90 mile tow. I showed up on scene and asked the owner if he had already powder coated the frame. His eyes got wide because he didn't think anyone would even think to ask that. I pulled out the nylon straps and had...

What have you done to your square lately??

From a newbie point of view... The downside I see to using a donor harness is that you inherit a 30 year old harness that may include brittle wires prone to breaking once moved. Granted, that 'shouldn't' be the case but how sure can you be when you don't know the history on the donor. Just my...

With all the boxes that are being put together for parts exchange I think you are right. Are they Traitors though? Nah. I never said a pledge to the squarebody. :) I've even been known to admire vehicles that weren't even built by GM.

    Seat belts

I don't have an answer for you. I am curious, what is the issue with your seat belts? I only ask because I have issues with mine. I currently use a chip clip on my seat belts to keep them from ratcheting my spleen to my spine. I'm curious if there is a fix for this or if I am looking at...

    Radiator Question

Good thing I asked about it then. :D On a serious note, if that is just flux I may just pull the radiator and try doing a CLR dip then follow up with the hot water pressure washer at work. If that cleans it up I may go ahead and do the cooling flush someone did a great writeup on earlier...

    Radiator Question

I was looking at my radiator a while back and noticed that one of the previous owners used a bunch of leak stop on the cooling system. You can tell because you can see this seeping out of almost all the tube to tank solder joints. It doesn't appear to be corroded to the point where it would...

Had the same deal with the Expedition the Preg lady drove. No air bag deployment but toasted the fronted end and drivers door. What the accident didn't do to the door the FD did trying to get at her. Body shop took a quick walk around and said it was done. He asked what insurance she had...
